It was suppose to be the National capital of Ghana but was abondoned right after the overthrow of Kwame Nkrumah.

The plan and everything about the city has been thrown away and they are now building anyhow..

TDC hasn't done much to develop the city.
Take beautification for example, they have failed.

Go to the new areas in Tema, most roads have not been constructed.

No Public University

Tema was suppose to have one of the biggest Hospitals but they don't.

No Stadium etc

If Tema development went according to plan like Accra wouldn't be anywhere near Tema (in terms of development) but the opposite is what we see today.

The City is neglected because it's development is not a govt mandate. The city is run by an almost private Corporation and they have done a good job at it.

It population is declining because, those rich guys who used to see it as a haven that is 15 to 20 minutes away from the bustling Accra where they work, no longer have those views because of the traffic on the motorway that has changed the commuting time to 40min or an hour.

Yes theyve done a good job at maintaining and are far better than any other MCE and DA that I know.

They done well at phasing out the old apartments from Nkrumah era for new and modern ones.

TDC is the only MCE that has made investments in real estate for it residents.

Sure, compared to other MMDCE's in the country TDC stands tall but per the city plan of Tema they haven't done so much.

Tema City needs a competent and a visionary Mayor, MCE's to collaborate with TDC to go strictly according to the plan of the city.
Tema can easily be transformed into a modern city.

I personally do not see the population decline of Tema as a problem.

Thank you Vankelvin. I didn't want to talk too much on this. It's heartbreaking. Tema, Ashaiman with their large populations, great locations on the busy Nigeria-Ivory Coast road, their nearness to Accra etc etc should be planned into proper modern cities with high rises, many multistorey indoor markets, dualized roads, intra city rail etc etc. Even common Tema-Accra rail line which should ideally be double track, even this small line we can't run. Poorer Senegal is running electric trains for example

Etc etc etc. I could go on and on. It's sad. Ghana our biggest currency is our PEACE. And with all this peace if we can't be VISIONIONARY and think BIG and radically transform our spaces then I don't know

if you want Accra yo Tema rail to be profitable, you'll have to stop trotro from plying the route...

That cannot happened in any democratic dispensation.. Don't count on private car owners parking their cars to join a train.
It will be an inconvenience for them

Actually those countries were controlled by France and England. While Ethiopia declared war on Germany because they supported the Italians who decided to invade them.

If those countries weren't controlled by colonial powers no way would have been involved in European world wars.
