There was drought in Europe this summer and people suffered. Farmers, fires, heat waves, name it.

During the summer of 2022, parts of Europe experienced drought conditions exacerbated by heat waves.[1] On 9 August, a senior European Commission researcher said it seems to be Europe's worst year in 500 years.[2] A report from the Global Drought Observatory has confirmed this.[3] The drought had serious consequences for hydropower generation and the cooling systems of nuclear power plants, as the drought reduced the amount of river water available for cooling.[4][5] Agriculture in Europe was also negatively affected by the drought.[6]

Lekki city -Lagos. 755 km² the fastest developing areas in Africa
Lekki City is five times bigger than the Nairobi CBD, Westland, and Upper Hill combined, and it's even more developed than those districts. The one advantage the Nairobi CBD has over Lekki is its high-rise buildings.

Lekki phase 1/2/3 are opposite VI. Stop being a typical nigerian. A con.

If I was to go buy Universal Homes - coz I know the owners and have bought in Nairobi - Lagos its very far.

Lekki you're showing is just opposite Victoria ISland.

You're a fool; how did Buhari wreck Nigeria? Has any president in Nigerian history made strides to the nation's infrastructure—including its roads, airports, and seaports—agricultural production, and social services as Buhari?

You r the biggest fool , what's agricultural production u r talking slowpoke. If ur stupid buhari has increased production , why is a bag of of rice increased from 8000 naira to 40000 naira.
Do u think all off of us are dumb .

The usual argument:

Why is a bag of rice 40,000 naira?

Well several reasons:

1) Some of our greedy farmers prefer to take all those loans from the Government through the Anchors borrowers program, produce the rice and then export to Francophone countries to make more money thereby creating some form of scarcity.

2) Rice should not have been 8,000 naira in the time of Jonathan but most likely around 20,000 naira then. Jonathan was definitely subsidising some of these imports judging by the price differentials compared to other countries. Remember we were importing almost all of our rice then. This Government has changed that.

3) You can buy rice for 24,000 naira in some places in the north like Gombe.

4) There's almost nowhere in the world a
bag of rice is not more than 40,000 naira.

5) Flooding in October increased prices from 30,000 naira to 40,000 naira because even the largest rice farmland in Nassarawa (Olams farm) was completely submerged by flood. Over 25 million dollars worth of investment by Olams gone in October. Several other farmlands across the country were destroyed too.

6) We are still building more rice mills to become fully self sufficient. More rice mills would be commissioned along the way for us to even begin full exports like Thailand. Stay Tuned.

You spoilt your otherwise good submission above on Kenya with this. If you want to criticise Nigeria, criticise with facts.

(1) What is the security situation in Lagos compared to Kenya or better still what is that security situation in Lagos driving companies away?
(2) Are you saying there are no leading multinational companies coming to Nigeria?

As for the currency policies, you may have a point, but both of my questions above to you still stands.

No body is demarketing lagos .

I want to criticize Nigeria , a country with so much talent and resources and is just wasted .
All multinational companies coming to nigeria are just because of population , They just want to utilize people and make money and japa.

We want ICT and manufacturing companies to provide jobs , not stupid companies providing jobs for 200 or 300 people and extracting money from people.

Air Nigeria and Ethiopian airline deal is a case in point , they will provide jobs and just like colonial masters control all the stuff .

No proper leadership , We call ourself Giant of Africa . But have No hospital to treat our presidents.

President Buhari has made London his secondary home ,while his wife stays in dubai and gives occasional motivational speeches .
Tinubu has already started medical tourism , Atiku has primary home in dubai , Obi is another snake charmer .

What security are u boasting about ,Lagos to Ibadan is notorious to kidnaps by bandits .

Lagos is not a separate country , for better or worse any insecurity effecting Nigeria will effect Lagos .

Are you a farmer? Farmers are feeling the impact. He has made farmers richer than ever. The only thing they would blame him for was the trouble of bandits in 2021 and early 2022. Apart from that, Buhari has made us more self sufficient in rice farming especially.

Watch this video from a Ghanaian DJ who I normally follow for his funny music reactions, but this time he interviews a Nigerian lady on Nigerian rice revolution where a Ghanaian expert (Abraham Odom) was also invited and became a part of it.

Kenya gov need to get out - of many of these sectors. That I agree. And that is why Kenya gov is very rich. They just need to sell. Safaricom alone can clear all commercial loans.

What are VRA liabilities.

Company is valued when you Assets-Liabilities.

Safaricom will not even get 2 billion dollars in valuation and your govt will only receive less than 35% of that.

VRA liabilities is 101 million dollars and valued at 30.9 billion, it operating revenue is over 4 billion dollars yearly

madness.. safaricom shares are floated and it's value easy to determine. Its profit alone buries all Ghana companies possibly including Anglo Ashanti.Volta generates 2600mw.Kengen generates 2000mw.Kengen shares are also floated.Kengen has never made a loss.Your loss maker saddled with debt is therefore worth less than kengen.VRA can only make losses because it saddled with lots of debt and is therefore worthless loss making entity..six years of losses and just made first profit..not different from Kenya airways.Your poor Ghana gov can never equal Kenya state owned enterprises that are in every sector ..never

Yet no Kenyan company come close to VRA in Asset valuation... That make Kenyan companies look like shit .

These are the biggest companies in asset valuation in Ghana

GNPC and Explorco - 40 billion dollars
VRA - 30 billion dollars
Ghana gas - approaching 15 billion dollars with it new Sankofa lines
VRA had to make loses because of all the acquisitions in assets that the govt had to force on it neck.

Your kengen is just a small company that generates 1200mw

Valued by who madman and where? You're just poor country who get impressed by nothing.Assets that generates six years of losses n produces 2600mw...half from one dam...that not worthy even 5 billion dollars considering it's liabilities . Ethiopia grand dam for 3000mw plus was built for 4 billion dollars...so give n take VAR minus the liabilities would struggle to get a billion dollars in valuation

Are we talking about this VRA or another?

The Volta River Authority (VRA) has successfully turned around the company's fortunes after six years of recording losses, as it made profit of GH¢112.76million in 2021 – with management poised to keep up the momentum

You want to compare VRA - with Safaricom that makes 3 billion dollars in revenue - and 1 billion dollar in Gross Profit? Are you completely nuts? Safaricom at it apex was valued at 18B dollars - more than Dangote.

Kenya gov SOES are literally in every sector.

VRA - would electricity sector

KENGEN - kenya gov sold 30% of it to public - own 70%. This largest energy generator with 10 dams, many geothermal, etc
KPLC - is public owned by gov largely - 50% owned by gov. Main supplier or distributor - 9 million customers.
Ketraco - This supply lines - the main electricity bulk supply - 100% gov
REA - Rural electrification - 100%
GDC - Geothermal development company - 100% gov of kenya

That is just electricity space

Name anything in Kenya - kenya gov has a play - including Hilton hotel, Intercon, name it. Kenya gov owns shares and stakes everywhere - cement, salt, sugar, alcohol, name it. Kenya gov has a play.

During 1990s - when World Bank/IMF pressured countries to privatize - Kenya gov privatized about 200 SOES - but never completely sold out - except very few - they would offer shares max of 49% - retaining control.

Kibaki sold a few - mostly floating 30% shareholding - to finance budget deficit.

Uhuru just got drunk with chinese and eurobond - I think he only sold Kenya Wines Agency to South Africa Distell via private arrangment.

Ruto has promised to sell 6 SOES every year to finance the budget deficit.

You are not smart. Dangote is in the hands of Nigerians. More than half of Safaricom is in the hands of foreigners. So as an SOE to Kenya, Safaricom is not as significant as you make it sound.

How can a sane human being compare a company like Safaricom to NNPC, a company with assets in oil and gas? NNPC is worth more than $50bn, probably more than $100bn if you factor in its oil and gas reserves. One of the best things Buhari did was to make NNPC a private company.
Its declared profit last year is higher than Safaricom's . It's madness to compare the two. I wonder how we've put up with a lunatic like you for years. Raving madman.

Idiot, your Safaricom is a small company worth less than $9bn. Where's $18bn coming from? Your ass as usual?
The value of Safaricom at the Nairobi
bourse has dipped below the Sh1 trillion
mark on foreign investors’ flight in the
wake of rate hikes in the US.
The telco was yesterday valued at
Sh979.60 billion after its share price
dipped to Sh24.45 from a high of Sh38.15

at the start of the year, translating to a
paper loss of Sh548.9 billion over the
period.

Learn to read carefully... Safaricom at 38 was worth 18b...there is bear market globally and therefore it's value is depressed. The company valuation at start is assets minus liabilities plus ability to make profit..NPP has just made profit once in 20yrs that Nigeria senators says it was sleepy Buhari cooking books. That thing is useless because it's made losses for 40yrs.Try to IPO or sell it so you know the price
