The call by northern leader and national chairman of Conference of Nigeria Political Parties (CNPP), Balarabe Musa, for Nigerians to protest against President Buhari’s administration has caused a debate on social media.

Balarabe Musa had charged Nigerians to protest against the Buhari administration over the failure of the administration to ensure food security, adding that hunger is a powerful tool in instigating protests.

The northern leader in an interview with the Sun, accused Buhari of playing with and destroying the lives of Nigerians. He recalled that before the last general election, many Nigerians saw Buhari as an angel who could rescue the country from socio-economic problems but that Nigerians are now saying that they misjudged. Balarabe Musa’s criticism of the administration comes after another northern leader, the Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi II, warned President Buhari that his administration may end like the Jonathan administration if it fails to retrace its footsteps.

However, some netizens have interpreted the latest criticism by Balarabe Musa and Lamido Sanusi as an indication that the northern elites are beginning to reject the president.
