In a bid to keep up with the latest technologies and innovations as well as enhancing rescue operations on public beaches, the city of Dubai has launched robot lifeguards.

Swimming at 12 times faster than a human, the innovation will be the first of its kind in the Middle East. The robot is remote controllable and easily transportable from dry land to water.

The robot is battery-powered and capable enough to perform 30 rescue operations, ensuring swiftness and efficiency in security and safety of beach-goers on Dubai's public beaches.

It should be noted that robots like this are available in USA, UK, Greece to mention a few. The 4ft robot is known as EMILY (Emergency Integrated Lifesaving Lanyard) and it can cruise through rip-currents and swift water at speeds up to 22 mph to reach distressed swimmers.
