Many tech-taxi services, especially Uber have had it good with the Lagos metropolitan. Uber even claims a 30% growth margin in the state than it did in its first 16 months in London. How incredible is that? But the song of their shoo-in might be muted by the recent regulation drive by the state government in Lagos. According to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Prince Anofiu Olarewaju Elegushi who restated “the state’s commitment to regulate the mile to mile taxi system with a view to ensure safety and security of passengers.” The recent regulation means taxi operators must register with the state in its bid to create a database of owners of such vehicles and issue franchise license. Vehicle owners must possess the adequate insurance facilities for vehicles and passengers alike and install safety gadgets in all its vehicles.
