How do you suggest we go about that?
BTW, you will be surprised at the impact of these online debates and how it affects how our public servants behave.
Cheers.

I'm talking of what they should do after the elections (damage) has taken place

if everyone who supported buhari can start talking this way, am sure we will have a better government, is not all about trying to blame those who did not vote APC for loosing out,no!, is just about putting pressure on the government to do more, am very sure buhari does not know most of the problem we are having now or what Nigerians are saying, because his corrupt aids will not allow that, if he buhari knows most of the things going on in this country judging from his personality, we will not be suffering like this, aso rock cabals are seriously working,I supported APC and I regret it to be honest with everyone, there character and that of PDP is no different.my pain is that most people that supported this government find it extremely difficult to voice there regret even in the face of deep suffering
You are most wicked and devilish to defend Buhari that he is not aware of all this groans. It simply means some of us will all die very shortly if you defend and continue this blame game that Buhari is not aware. Buhari is just a full time dunce. During his military days, he was covered by military characteristics and Idiagbon and not because Buhari was an inch wise and intelligent. The military services is based on command. And whatever that is required is always obeyed abi done. Todays world is based on on intelligent which is Buhari greatest problem. Buhari is a stark illitrates and very dull. Read this:
Immediately after the swearing in ceremony:Question: Now that you are elected, how would you better and take care of the country? GEJ: your lamentations are all over. i will work together with every Nigerians to better our society. the same question. Now that you are elected, how would you better and take of care of the country? BUHARI: Well, all those who gave me 5% votes will not be treated the ways with those who gave 75%. Infact those 5% voters may pass through hell. True to it, he rushed to shut down the marine university. Rushed to carry out many one sided appointments, rushed to close down all the community pipe line contracts and many others . That is it. You can see the different between an illitarate dunce and an educated man. Buhari was never an intelligent man, except that he was under the influence of the millitary ways. Nigerians are always making that mistakes. Under Buhar today, reccession and to make things worse there is no hope for now.

" What the people want to see are the following: a drastic reduction in the size and budget of our over-bloated governments; a sustained war against poverty; protection of lives and properties; creating a less rancorous atmosphere for businesses to thrive; special concessions and incentives to employers of labour; a stable currency; upgrading our educational system and making the schools’ curriculum more relevant to our communities and society in general; provision of social infrastructure, particularly power, good roads, hospitals and potable water; and so on."

He deliberately left Corruption out of his solutions or alternatives. I truly believe Buhari and, all Governors need to show leadership by reducing the cost of running governments. It's not fair for them to continue to live their lavish lives, and except the led to tightened their belts for austerity or recession. We need transparency and accountability from the top downward; henceforth, make budgetary data more open. We need to know how much is spent on everything; otherwise, your government is also corrupt.

If you read that writeup with your senses intact, you will see that his criticisms are for both APC and PDP.

And is it not true that gej looted Nigeria's treasury?
very unreasonable and foolish. Did GEJ leadership brought us into this reccession?

In writing all these, Dell Momodu still deluded himself. GEJ handed over a growing economy but the Dullard they voted for has plunged Nigeria into recession. The rush of TSA is the major singular mistake. Nigeria would have grown beyond where we were in 2015. It is so sad that Dele Momodu and his SW friends did Nigeria in.

Nigerians are yet to know what they chose themselves. Buhari has not got the brains and charisma to govern. He is not even fighting corruption but merely shouting it. God have mercy.

Your repentance and turn-back is rather too late.

Buhary is a complete BADLUCK. angry
In his first outing as a military general and head of states, his records were almost as bad as it today just that this time around, being a civilian president that requires so much upstair, is damn bad. It then, simply means Buhari is a complete BADLUCK to run any government.

Truth sometimes is BITTER . I was a STRONG supporter of APC but I have not only lost hope but disappointed. Dele Mamodu has spoken but what irks me is how Nigerians understand situations. We really need to Change the way we think. May God guide our President to lead us well. Buhari is an incorruptible and disciplined person but I think something is wrong some where. He needs serious people around him. May God guide us all.

I thought that our president has a problem with his ears and can't hear what people say.
Was that not why they carried him to the UK for treatment even though we have ENT Specialists who can operate him and do needed surgery here at the Aso Rock clinic that has a budget bigger than all Teaching Hospitals combined?
Do you think that the surgery to repair his damaged ears in the UK was successful?
one thing about Niger Delta Avengers is that any damage caused by them is usually beyond repairs. Since Avengers are the ones that damaged Buhari's ears, no hospital can seccussfully put them back to their former state.

You haven't fully owned up like Momodu. PMB isn't incorruptible! He appointed pdp rogues abd accepted stolen money to finance his campaign
Appointing friends and cronies based on loyalty instead of competence is corruption itself.

The new orientation you are talking about will take another generation to fulfill, the leaders of tomorrow are they not the ones shouting sai Baba? That was why i said until ppl start thinking and asking their leaders probing and intelligent questions Nigeria will never get it right. Why should a presidential candidate refuse to outline and defend his plans for the nation in a debate and yet ppl feel he has anything upstairs? Why should a candidate spend over 2billion on party nomination alone and ppl believe that wont be his first priority? Most of us that supported GEJ then did it not because he is the best person but compared to buhari he is far far better , if there was another candidate then from another strong national party ,most likely neither pdp or apc would have won.

Absolute bumkum!..... and HISTORY has proved us (those that voted GEJ), ... WRONG

The support we gave GEJ back then, was based PURELY on TRIBAL SENTIMENTS. T hat is the honest truth.

The Northerners have usurped the Presidency (using Coups) for too many years.
The Northerners were boasting that they are "Boon-To-Rule", like the rest of the country were their slaves! angry angry
The Northerners wanted to subvert the Constitution which says the Vice President must take over, in the event of the death of the President

All the above put together, the "Southerners" (East and South West) felt GEJ was an opportunity for a "Southerner" to also be President for as long as possible.

What we the Southerners did not bargain for was that GEJ was going to be a MONUMENTAL DISASTER of a President!
Under GEJ, we discovered that Tribal sentiments (matters of the heart) should never be allowed to determine critical decisions like leadership (matters of the Brain)

When Nigerian thought IBB was the personification of corruption, GEJ proved us wrong and under him "Stealing was considered NOT Corruption"!. shocked
Despite the huge incomes from Crude Oil under GEj's regime, the country was left with a Debt that would take generations to pay while he had nothing to show for it,... except looted funds in both local and foreign account of his cronies and FRONTS.

I am sure GEJ and his administration will form the crux of academic discourse (as a Course on Corruption) in our Law, Pol. Science and virtually every Faculty of our Universities, where "how not to be a failed and corrupt Leader", will be taught.

Buhari has tried to be President on three occasions and was roundly rejected but it was the cluelessness, profligacy and unbridled corruption of GEJ and his regime, that made a "rejected" Buhari to become a promising option.... which Nigerians were forced to take.

I dont hate GEJ and l dont have an "unbilical cord love" for Buhari but if l like most "rational Nigerians" (unlike the tribalists that chant "GEJ Na our Bloodder" grin ) l have to make a choice between just GEJ and Buhari (Devil's alternative as we call such), l will not even blink before choosing Buhari over GEJ.

BTW: It has taken the last few decades now, to completely debase the "moral and values" of our younger generation so much so that majority of them have become "brainless, valueless robots" without any sense of dignity and moral compass (No offence intended, just plain, observed facts!).
I posit that except a radical re-orientation of our "Youths" is urgently undertaken (but the present, avoidable economic hardship is not helping matters) they will make an even worse "failed leadership", in the not too distant future,.......... unless ofcourse, if we are prepared to keep recycling the "old thieves" who in the first place, put the Youths in that position.

My Take!

SaTANoids like you register an account to come are spew nonsense on Nairaland!

Get it into your thick skull that GEJ and his cronies looted the nations foreign reserve (One of the reasons the value of the naira against other foreign currencies is so abysmal)

GEJ and his co-looters refused to save money for the future, when Dollar was trading at an all-time high of over $130, compared to today's value of an all-time low of between $28 and $48

GEJ funded all these miscreant militant groups destroying and blowing-up our Oil installations, leading to even lower output at a very low selling price. Nigeria is systematically earning lower forex.

GEJ encouraged and enabled rampant corruption when he declared that "Stealing is not corruption" and recent events have shown how he, his wife and other thieves looted Nigeria into recession.

All the above actions of GEJ brought this recession on Nigeria

It will take some time but this current Govt will eventually bring Nigeria back to stability.
Its just unfortunate that Nigerians ALWAYS remember Buhari, when they are in deep-shyt, the looters are having a field day and the economy is ALREADY DESTROYED

Even if you are a #Wailer, STOP asking dumb questions just to prove that #Wailers are DUMB

And yes, it is true gej looted Nigeria's treasury.

The value of what we had?? Nigerians don't see the bigger picture. If Jonathan is the one who's currently president, Nigeria's economy will still be in recession, obviously, for someone who lost more money during Oil Boom. So: Buhari is not economically smart neither is Jonathan. We need an Economist gan gan as a President.

Now I'm going to write a short note(you might read, you might not, just wanted to write)on what Nigeria can do that'll be effective on the economy and that'll be felt generally around the nation.

Firstly, Education. When I say Education, I don't mean all this unnecessary building of schools and giving them curriculum from 1956.
I'm talking of modern education. Just like Momodu said, education that'll have labour impact on modern infrastructure, modern health, modern tech. That is, Nigerians will study how to make cars, you and I study how to treat patients with diseases instead of flying out. And this education should come cheap and available to all regions thereby reducing Illiteracy.

Secondly, concetration on modern basic needs. While partnering with Private Companies, the government will build indigenous Vehicle plants, Shoe producing plants, Clothing industries etc that manufacture from scratch thereby increasing self-dependence and providing employment.

It doesn't stop there, with Educated Nigerians and dependable Plants/Industries the government can be confident to ban importation of certain goods respectfully. Starting with Vehicles, to clothing, to shoes etc. This will prevent dumping.

Gradually when the country can become very self sufficient enough to even export their goods. Poor countries in Africa will import our Cars since they'll be cheaper rather than from Asia/Germany. You'll see Africans travel from their country to Nigeria for health care. Revenue for the Govt. Forex. Naira will revalue.

And I'm not even an economist. There'll definitely be loopholes to the strategy but with a sophisticated team of economists and a Economist President, there'll be a way to treat them.

But what is so sure is that if Nigeria can take advantage of poverty-stricken Africa like how Asia is taking advantage of Nigeria..

We'll rake in stable money.
