Addiction is “to occupy (oneself) with or involve (oneself) in something habitually or compulsively.” This speaks of an unnatural (for the Christian, at least) obsession with anything other than God: sports, work, shopping and/or acquiring “stuff,” even family or children. We are to “love the Lord, your God, with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might” (Deuteronomy 6:5), which is, according to Jesus, the first and greatest commandment (Matthew 22:37-38). We can conclude, then, that an addiction to anything other than God Himself is wrong.

God is the only thing we can (and should) occupy ourselves with habitually. To do so with anything else draws us away from Him and displeases Him. He alone is worthy of our complete attention, love, and service. To offer these things to anything or anyone else is idolatry.

As important as internet is to us today, the Internet is also in danger of turning us all into addicts. Time spent online continues to rise among every segment of the world's population, and becomes more natural to each emerging generation. We're hyper-connected, playing our games, sharing our baby photos and watching TV together in collaborative ways that were unimaginable 30 years ago. Thanks to smartphones we check our social media accounts regularly – and in some cases constantly. Their use has become habitual, rewarding, and incredibly hard to give up.

Addictions are a very real issue, but they are not impossible to overcome with the help of God and God's people. Scripture offers much encouragement regarding the reality of addiction, God's power to fight addiction, the importance of other believers to help, and the strength of God's Spirit for the believer who seeks to fight against addictive struggles.

1 Corinthians 10:13

No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

Christians can be so foolish sometimes

What does internet addiction have to do with being a christian ??
You shouldn't also be addicted to bible or prayers if you consider internet addiction a sin
That's why some of you are so dumb
Christians are so dumb i swear, they will say drinking alcohol is a sin but i do remember when i was in the seminary school, the wine we use in holy communion contains 30% alcohol

Some people are obsessed with religion. Internet addition is sin? That mean reading book is a sin or reading newspaper is also a sin.

Religion - the greatest scam ever invented by man!!!!

This isn't even about Christianity, addiction or obsession to anything including money is bad without any religious connotation. Being obsessed with money will make you lose reasoning and not think deeply before making any investment just because money is mentioned.

You supposed to ask this:

Why are Christians so s*tupid to let a fictitious book (bible, written more than 1000 years ago by goat herders) control them?

Churches use brainwashing, mind control, indoctrination, oppression, coercion, intimidation, legalism, false teaching, guilt, shame, peer pressure, and other bondage techniques to control their dumb members, increase church attendance, and obtain more money.

The goal is said to be "winning souls to Christ," but the underlying agenda is the desire for more power, control, and money. These mind control and bondage techniques are not needed to "win souls to Christ" if religion wasn't a big scam.
