It all started in the suburb of southern Kaduna State, Nigeria. Katung was born into a middle class family of seven. He started his early education in the local authority primary school and proceeded to a Government owned institution for secondary education. However, his academic pursuit suffered a setback when his father who worked at a textile factory left his employment with the renowned textile company ten years ago to his hometown.

Life took a dramatic turn for Katung who was known to be a brilliant student by friends and family and won various class and school quiz. His father could no longer finance his education as such his uncle who saw how brilliant Katung was decided that he should come back to the city to continue his education.

Katung joined his uncle in the city and was admitted in one of the public schools to continue his secondary education. He had his senior school certificate and when it was time to proceed to the University, Katung had decided that he did not want to further his education. His uncle could not believe the sudden development.

There was series of family meeting to persuade Katung to continue his education but he insisted on venturing into business. Katung had met with some friends who were into charcoal business and developed interest in the business.

His intention to go into business received no support from neither his uncle or any member of his family. He took up menial job in an envelope production factory and later worked at a sachet water production factory where he met Ada, she was a very pretty girl from the Middle-belt region of the country. They became very close lovers and he told about his interests in the charcoal business. Initially, she advised him to consider education against going into business at the moment. He insisted that his passion lies in the charcoal business.

Two months later, Katung was thrown out of his uncle's home as claimed that the purpose for which he accepted him into his come has been thwarted and Katung should fend for himself.
He stayed with some friends for sometime before he got his one room apartment. His relationship with Ada waxed stronger during this time and she was very supportive.

Few months later, Ada payed him a surprised as she had told him that she had travelled to her village. Katung was still sleeping in his one room apartment when he heard a knock on his door. He opened the door to found Ada dressed in a long red gown which displayed her hips and pointed chest. With a lovely smile on her face she kissed Katung and wished him happy birthday. Katung suddenly realized that it was birthday.
Sitting in the room glued to each other like siamese twins, she whispered into his ears; "honey, I got something for you". Katung with his arms around her waist responded: "and what could that be?" She continued, "you will start your charcoal business next week, here is one hundred thousand naira I had saved for my studies, you can go ahead with your business".
Katung was shocked and asked her If she meant it. She said that like his passion and determination and that is her little sacrifice for him.

Katung contacted his associates in the charcoal business and weeks later, he started the business. Soon he had grown wide customer based and within a year he increased his supplies with millions going into his bank account. During this time he had engaged Ada for marriage and visited Ada's parent to introduced himself.
He made arrangement for her schooling. She was admitted into one of the Federal universities in Nigeria in the Northern part of the country.

Few months before Ada's graduation, they got wedded in a Pentecostal church located in the ancient city of Zaria in Kaduna State. The wedding attracted big wigs from all works of life as he had made contacts from his business.
It was on cool Monday morning, Katung was still preparing for the day's business when his phone rang. A Chinese firm based in Hong Kong has ordered for the supply of five trucks of charcoal.

The Chinese firm received their order three days later as Katung made sure he offered prompt and quality service to his clients. He got several dollars for the deal and he soon established his company and employed workers.

Ada remained the supportive woman she had being and already had a babyboy. Katung got admitted into one of the Federal universities in the Northern part of the country where he ran his business and studies concurrently.
They had a family reunion party with his uncles, aunts, sisters, brothers and both parents in attendance.
