It's pathetic to say the least that many Nigerians are ill informed about the plight of doctors in the country.
Pls let's put sentiments aside, we're human too, we have responsibilities, we have dependants and families too, we have lives to live outside of rendering hospice services.
It's only appropriate that we get what is rightfully our as agreed in previous dialogues. Pls let Nigerians be guided and more informed.

Yes... since we the citizens never stand for the truth rather to support tribalism. .. I support the strike...

If thieves like Patience, Buhari etc can fly abroad for medical checkup instead of developing or settling local medical issues...

With the way state governments are treating resident doctors, this is necessary. Resident doctors in LAUTECH teaching hospital Ogbomosho are now paid about 44% of their salary, with some senior registrars now earning 120k monthly! So not fair.

Doctors in private clinics that don't collect up to half the salary in public hospitals never go on strike. Please resign and go to private practice. Its not by force.

All these sectors that love going on strikes, do they think the government is going to be moved by such actions?

These people don't care about our lives, talk less of your salaries.

Its still the poor man that will suffer it.

And these same doctors have their own private hospitals that they would refer you to when the strike begins.

angry

So now is it d doctors or the govt that is the DEVIL reference to d bolded.

My friend, Nigerian doctors are superhumans. The conditions they work in. No 1st and 2nd world country can work in those conditions. The least u can do is to tell ur govt to av a dialogue with them. They don't owe u anything rather is the govt that owes u..

Different story here, sir. The governor expects the hospital to generate the remaining half, knowing fully well it's an impossible task.

Doctors and Thunder who strike pass?
Re: Resident Doctors May Begin Strike Nationwide September 30 by Nobody: 10:15am On Sep 14, 2016
They are asking the Government to resolve ALL outstanding issues plaguing the health sector before 30th Sptember? These unreasonable, insensitive, pampered people have started again. So doctors can not buy their own pens to write prescriptions? Ok. It seems they desperately want to cash their striking allowances.

Going on strikes won't help the masses who are the patients of these hospitals.

Maybe the health sector should just be privitized so we all can rest.

At least nepa no dey go strike again

We pamper doctors so much in this Country..

If not for the poor masses I think it's time federal government privatise all federal government hospitals.

Really.

I.pity the " poor masses " if this is done.

What we need is comprehensive healthcare. Everybody should have an opportunity for the best health care and not bother about costs.

For his to happe everybody has to contribute to a central fund whcih would be used to run the scheme. This funds would then be deployed whenever any contributing member is ill.

The problem is those contributing and don't fall sick would feel cheated and may pull out.

It's like insurance pay someone to take your risk for you.

That removes the strain of out of pocket payment on individuals.

Nigerian healthcare system is heavily subsidized that's why you get the type of healthcare we have. If mmarket forces determine price then more would die for lack of funds except they are part of an insurance scheme.

It's sad but true.

Don't understand why people think doctors fight for money alone. Its clearly stated in the article above that the hospitals are not well funded by the govt, residency training is not well funded.I dont think doctors should be the culprits in this situation, citizens should demand better health care services from the govt. Let's call a spade a spade....
