Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has attributed the current economic recession to the activities of militants in the Niger Delta.

Osinbajo said there was no way Nigeria would not be affected, given the fact that the nation now loses over one million barrels of crude oil on a daily basis.

The Vice-President said this on Monday at the maiden meeting of the Presidential Quarterly Business Forum, with members of the organised private sector and other stakeholders at the State House Conference Centre, Aso Villa, Abuja.

The meeting is part of the Federal Government’s effort to continually engage regularly with different segments of the Nigerian public on its economic policies and direction‎.

Osinbajo said, “Perhaps it is important for us to understand the nature of this recession in which we have found ourselves. A lot depends on what sort of recession and how we got here.

“If we did not have vandalism in the Niger Delta as we are currently suffering, we will not have this recession today.

“Moreover, in looking at the solutions, we should try to focus on the type of problem we have and what instigated it; then we can begin to come up with better solutions.”

See what buhari has turned Pst. Osibande into... The best solution to this crisis is dialogue. If the government doesn't dialogue with this boys then the economy will remain this way. Simple

Nothing new here... but since the people blowing up the pipelines, together with their sponsors, are doing what they do to spite buhari (irrespective of who suffers it), it is safe to say the recession is because of buhari.

There has always been Niger Delta militants since the time of Adaka Boro.
The only difference today is that we have a corrupt and ineffective president and his even more corrupt vice president.

Dullardry is infectious and our 'Prof Osunbade' is clearly a very good recipient and conductor... Soon people will question this much touted professorship. Of course vandalism started on May 30th 2015. undecided

blueto:
Is this really coming from a professor? I expected people like buhari and oshiomhole to say this, but how pathetic to ascertain that a “professor” have reduced himself to this level of thinking faculty.
dat is why dis govt is already on record as d most incompetent govt eva. nigerians should blame d dullard for d happenings in niger delta.
it makes no economic sense for a govt who's major source of forex is from crude oyel to distabilize d niger delta by stoping maritime university meant for south south youths, declaring tompolo wanted, halting amnesty programes in d name of ego (new sheriff in town). wat has bauri achieved so far notin. they ended up losing 1.4 million barels of oyel daily.
dis govt is too incompetent.

Stop the blame game already and get to work...

I don't support the blowing up of government infrastructure by hungry, cowardly and unscrupulous beings, but I believe that the FG should take proactive measures to address the agitations of these rascals either by dialogue or brute force.

The PMB led government should learn to accept responsibility even though we know that they inherited many problems from GEJ.

Now you see why the north will never support true federalism or calls for restructuring. The only thing that keeps Nigeria together is the oil in ND.

Its time they de-pastor this man..

Fire vs fire hasn't been on record to quench fire but fire vs water.. Hot hot same time doesn't give the best solution which hot cold would have given

I've been clamoring for dialogue between the federal government and the militants but it has always fallen on deaf ears

It's never too late to make amends though.. Let's begin now because there's other better time to start but now

God bless Nigeria
God bless Nigerians
God bless nairalanders
God bless you
God bless me

What happened to our "only saviour" the "strong man" General

egift:

This is a man who understands exactly what to do. Has a track record of victories. And has the political will to keep Nigerians safe across the Federation.

Kidnapper, Terrorists, Militants, Arm Rubbers, Criminals - find something legitimate to do with your life. The next President of Nigeria is NOT into Military-Costume-Wearing. He is a Retired Major General. Trained in Nigeria, India, United Kingdom and the United States. He is an over performer. He is not shy of the Facts. Our Senior Military Commanders will not eat Military budget and clean mouth under his watch.

Don't mind those that tell you that Nigeria Cannot be Changed. That things can't be better. They just want to keep looting. When they exhaust their lies, they will start mocking, insulting and posting cartoons.

While PDP are hoping to rig themselves in, Buhari and the entire APC team believe you have the capacity to elect Buhari with your votes alone. Let see who wins (PDP Rigging vs The Votes of the Masses).

This Change is Unstoppable. Sai Buhari. 5days to go!
