Why Lagos Is Immune To Recession — Rotimi Agunsoye by pol23: 3:25am On Sep 20, 2016
Lagos—Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State has attributed the state’s immunity to the current economic recession to the virile revenue base and fiscal discipline within the state.

It will be recalled that based on the current economic situation of the country, the Federal Government had announced plans to inject N350 billion into the economy to cushion the effect of recession in the country.

Ambode made the remark, yesterday, at Ojokoro LCDA during the ongoing simultaneous commissioning of newly constructed roads, held in 10 councils of the state.

The governor, who was represented by a member of the House of Representatives, Rotimi Agunsoye, representing Kosofe Federal Constituency, said:

“The reason Lagos State is not feeling the impact of recession so much, is simply because of its revenue base as well as the financial prudence. This has helped us not to feel the impact like other states.”

He disclosed that the N19 billion funds for the construction of the 114 roads was sourced through taxes paid by residents.

“The newly constructed roads will have a positive impact on businesses by boosting economic activities and guarantee adequate security within the state,” Ambode stated.

Don't mind all these silly journalists with their sensational headlines! The governor said lagos state is not feeling much impact of the recession and the silly people twisted his words to say immune which is like saying there's no impact at all

Lagos isn't immune to any recession oh, oga Ambode. That's how Aregbe started too. The fact that we are import based economy and that Lagos is the main entry point doesn't gauranty immunity to recession.

And Lagos does not sweat the small stuff..

You will never see dem celebrating installing Transformer or patching roads the way other states do..

And the State is run like a business and not a charity organization like Ekiti.

In Lagos, you either go big or go home..

Story for the gods. Lagos is not feeling the impact yet residents are lamenting of hardship. What about the increased transport fare? exorbitant cost of food stuff?? hyper inflation low demand for goods & services? erosion of disposable income high cost of energy i.e fuel & electricity Massive job cuts, retrenchment & unemployment Ambode should speak for himself since he has lost touch of what the masses are passing through!!!!

Lagos is immune to recession because the prices of most government products are never exactly what you pay.
1. For instance, find out how much it costs to pick an international passport in Lagos and same at Abuja.
2. How much it costs to collect wedding certificate at the registry and its true value.
this is just to list a few. How do you expect lagos to go into recession? how?
