Nahum chapter 2 vs 4

4 The chariots shall rage in the streets, they shall justle one against another in the broad ways: they shall seem like torches, they shall run like the lightnings.


Vs4 refers to the cars of today,
which indeed do rage in the streets. In the course of a day’s
time there are many accidents throughout the world,
especially in the large cities, as the cars jostle one another in
the broadways. Nahum never saw a modern automobile,
but in vision he was shown one of our modern freeways at
night. He, of course, had never before seen headlights or
taillights. He knew they were not torches, but they gave off a
brilliant light and since he was at a loss as to how to describe
them, he said that they seemed like torches. He was amazed
at the speed of the “chariots” and described them as running
like lightning.
