Mozambique Says Amodu Is Naive by Nobody: 12:35pm On Oct 13, 2009 |

A win, which the team was capable of getting, would have put it on seven points and a chance to move to South Africa after beating Tunisia comprehensively in its last match of the qualifiers, Nooij told The Guardian after the 0-1 loss to Nigeria at the National Stadium, Abuja. According to Nooij, Mozambique had enough opportunity to kill off the game, "but my strikers did not take advantage of the chances they created." He said: "Nigeria was very heavy and tactically naive. The team has been playing the same style since we drew the first game in Maputo. We knew we could hold our own in Abuja, but we did not reckon that we would get as many opportunities to score as we had. "This match just threw our World Cup chances away, but we will do everything possible to win the Nations Cup ticket." On the game against Tunisia, Nooij said Mozambique had shown that it is better than the Group table show, adding that the Black Mambas would not have problems with the Carthage Eagles. "Tunisia, just like Nigeria, was lucky to beat us in the first leg in Tunis. Now, we are going home to prepare for our revenge. We must win that game to qualify for the Nations Cup no matter what happens in Kenya." |
