Kano: Muhammad Abacha declares for PDP

Wednesday, October 14, 2009
KANO — Muhammad Abacha, the eldest son of the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha, yesterday, formally declared for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the swearing-in ceremony of the state executive council in Kano.

http://odili.net/news/source/2009/oct/14/302.html

Muhammad Abacha’s formal declaration for PDP in Kano came amidst speculations that the top echelons of the largest party in Africa have agreed to install him the next governor of the state.

Abacha, clad in a white gown, dotted with black spots with his traditional black cap to match, was heralded into the venue by hundreds of youths chanting pro-Abacha slogan.

The declaration by the young Abacha, yesterday, was a climax of long trek to revive the political image of the family whose head, General Sani Abacha died in June 1998 as Nigeria’s Head of State.

Muhammad Abacha had told journalists some months ago of his desire to join partisan politics to enable him contribute his quota to the political development of the country.

Events leading to the formal declaration by the scion of the Abacha family were products of a proactive strategy designed to clear the general impression held by many Nigeria about late Abacha.

Two former military rulers, General Muhammadu Buhari and General Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida picked the gauntlet during the 10th years anniversary of their colleague and cleared him of any wrong doing while presiding over the affairs of the country in separate chats with journalists.

The dude is a multi-billionaire!

That's what i don't understand. May be he just wants a title because the whole federal allocation to kano state in 8 years is not up to one swiss bank account of his'.

He doesn't need the money. May be he wants to use this opportunity to set the records straight and clear their family's name.

He might well be a good governor, he is 50 times richer than the state, the resources of the state will be spent on the state instead of lining his pocket, so things might be looking good for Kano in the years to come.
