Don't mind them. While the North and the Southwest are planning to be free from the oil from the Niger delta , they are still lazily folding their arms and shouting our OYEL.

The SW yes.... but the north is not planning to be free at all...

But they will invest their money on the pipeline that will transport crude from the region to the refinery abi?
Na pipeline them take dey transport crude abroad to refine? Whatever means we ve been using to transport crude abroad we shall use to transport to these refinaries. When the monkey learns to jump frm tree to tree without falling the hunter learns to shoot frM tree to tree without missing.

He is right. You are ignorant. The crude oil is still from Niger Delta not just ondo or eko

he is not right... oil can be gotten from any oil producing country... Refineries can also act as storage facilities for oil.

You are the ignorant one... check the map of Nigeria very well.. 98% of Niger Delta is based in the western region.. so the crude oil is still from the western region...

Yakubu Gowon's division tactic will not work.. the crude oil originally belongs to the western region but Yoruba leaders back then were too dull to notice.. tongue tongue

Looking for trouble everywhere, Why cant they build cocoa refinery?

When you hear them talk about diversifying one will think they are serious.

NIGERIA GOVT sleep crude oil, wake up crudeoil, but refuse to invest in the region that harbour the oil rather prefer to spend billions of naira on security to bomb the region, lets see how it will end shaa

*****modified*****
For those of you quoting me to say crude can be imported, i pray ooooo

Hope there is enough dollar for that?

On the contrary, a refinery is a much needed infrastructure in a country as big as Nigeria, the unavailability many of the feedstock from crude oil is one of the reasons why the manufacturing sector remains comatose. Having said that, I wish these b1tches will invest in capital infrastructure first i.e. good and well linked roads would be a start.

Sao Tome, Gabon and Angola which are not that far from Lagos and Ogun can all supply the crude.

Btw, Angola produces more crude oil than the Niger Delta.
did you say Angola is close to Ogun state

A Refinery makes money from processing crude. It doesn't have to own the crude. The ivory coast refinery is doing very well but the country doesn't have crude.

Refineries and various types of processing industries are moving towards sub saharan Africa on account of lower labour costs and seeking to take advantage of the strong dollar and preferential licensing. For the country it is win win because processing fees are in dollars. They won't go to areas like ND or NE because insurance premiums for such areas would be punitive.

It's simple.

it is typographical error, the right spelling is Olodumare, meaning God. though i will still research, because we have 3 major dialects in the state, it could be that it is correct in any of the other two dialects. otherwise, it is typographical error

The investors are in the oil buisness, they need a location for their refinery so they approach a governor in a state they believe can host the project. # note the state dosent need to drop money most likely they just gave land and probably some favorable conditions to ease landing for the refinery. so my point is the people who own the money decided they want a refinery it has nothing to do with government choosing refinery over cocoa. if you have funds and want a cocoa plant you can as well approach a suitable host community or state and partner with them. it definately would be a welcome development.
