President Muhammadu Buhari says the Treasury Single Account policy has started yielding results.
He said this while reacting to questions at a meeting with members of the Nigerian Community in Saudi Arabia at the Nigerian House in Riyadh on Tuesday evening.

He announced that his administration had introduced a number of policies and programmes aimed at saving the nation’s economy from collapse.


Buhari cited the TSA and the Zero-based Budget as some of the meaningful financial policies that was checking fraud in the system, saying it had started yielding fruitful results.

According to him, “the nation has so far realised over N2.6 trillion” from the newly introduced TSA.

He, therefore, expressed optimism that with the introduction of the single account, the 2016 budget implementation might not record any form of deficit at the end of the financial year.

Many will not believe and truly its not their fault.

You said the FG is in need of money. What are the monies recovered from the Treasury Single Account (TSA) and looted funds recovered from the EFCC for? Are we just recovering for the sake of it?
On the TSA, what we talk about is a flow. It is not that the TSA has recovered a surplus. The TSA is a mechanism for making sure  that all payments go through a central point so they can be tracked, but those funds belong to various agencies and they end up being paid into the national  treasury.   So, the issue of maybe N3trn lying idle in TSA is not correct. The money that has been flowing through, the cumulative amount is what is being spoken about. That money is not lying there idle for us to take. This has been clarified so many times. The Minister of Finance has said so on several occasions and I can’t understand why the issue isn’t still clear. The Minister of Finance said that the amount is a flow; it is what has passed through using the TSA. It is not money sitting down in CBN waiting for us to spend.

I didn't go to school na...no be fight. Poor and ill TSA implementation is one of the major reasons for the wahala we are facing now. He cant reverse it cos he has already called it an achievement.

This news was since February when Buhari visited Saudi. 8 months down d line, what has it been used for? inflation is still on the rise, economic woes continue, they are still borrowing money. where exactly is the president's prudence?

Sorry, my brother there is something I don't get. The President said they have already realised #2.6tr from TSA and Nigeria's 2016 budget is around #6tr, that is almost half of the budget and this is just Oct more will still come before Dec ending. So, my question is why do we still need to borrow ?Is the TSA a business venture like oil that we can realise profits from up to #2.6tr ? Pls my brother, can u explain to me , as it seems you understand what the President is saying. Will appreciate this.
