Almost one and a half years after former President Goodluck Jonathan left office, his 2015 campaign posters are still displayed in markets in Ebonyi State, including the over 70-year-old Abakaliki main market.

Speaking to our correspondent on Thursday, one of the traders, Celestine Chikodiri, said the traders resolved to retain the posters as a show of love for the former President.

He said, “We like the way Jonathan ruled us; his government was good, we like the Jonathan administration more than the present government and it is why we decided to leave the posters in the market because we are missing him.

“If you look around the market, you will not see campaign posters of any presidential candidate other than Jonathan’s own.

“The Jonathan administration will not be easily forgotten; things were moving smoothly, our businesses were flourishing, civil and public servants were patronising us,’’ he said.

Chikodiri described Jonathan as a true democrat for conceding defeat at the presidential election which he said was another reason the traders allowed his campaign posters to still remain in the market and called on politicians to emulate him.

Another trader in the market, Mrs. Nwode Angelina, said the current hardship being experienced in the country had shown that Jonathan was a good ‘husband’ to the nation.

“Today, everybody has seen that he tried for the nation and I am not surprised that his campaign posters are still littering our market.”

Forget what you read on the pages of newspapers, blogs and magazines about the poor situation of the country. They editors make it seem bad but you need to go across the country to know the true state.

The condition is worst.. very very bad... in fact very terrible, only few blessed ones can afford to eat 3 good meals a day.

Nigeria current situation is like 1970 civil war

4get E-warriors ... the government need a new welfare social package for very hungry population.

Its so painful to see that family that normally eat well on the brink of starvation

Nothing moves o! Market is slow, takes longer to make turn over, there is inflation yet no money in circulation.

The economy is no longer booming, consumers have lesser cash to spend and so the traders patronage dwindled. Na so we see am. Nah MMM men are looking towards to augment fall in revenue.

Why are you guys so gullible to believe propaganda stories manufactured by APC to cover up for their glaring incompitence So has corruption stopped today Is there anything buhari or APC has got right since they took power Do you in all honesty believe they are doing their best or even trying holistically and radically to turn things around Pls answer those questions with a clear conscience.

No! No!

We Igbos did not vote for Buharia! The change should be for the Sai baba zombies in the west who thought that a 70 year old expired military dictator with no WASC is the answer to Nigerias problems.

I am not sure who you are but Igbos had more development help in 5 years with GEJ, when compared to any other President.

If you don't know the grants given to Igbos to build industries, I would not blame you. People like Innosan and Coschairs farming industry, created jobs in the East. Enugu Airport and the Anambra Secretariat building has saved us travel time as well as help to develop our State, as well as create jobs.

Speak for your region, speak for your people.
