Fayose: Humiliation Of Tinubu Is A Humiliation Of The Yoruba Race by zooster: 2:57pm On Oct 07, 2016
Ado-Ekiti – Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has described the current tirade against Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as a grand conspiracy and crude attempt to humiliate and reduce the political influence of the national leader of All Progressive Congress.

Condemning the attack on Tinubu, Fayose said “humiliation of Tinubu is as good as humiliation of the Yoruba race,” adding that “Yoruba leaders must be protected”.

Fayose
The governor said; “even though I am not a member of APC and I will never be, I was elected to stand in defence of the Yoruba nation once again I say no to the continuous dishonourable treatment being meted to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, having paid his dues.”

Speaking through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, Governor Fayose, said; “if Tinubu is allowed to be embarrassed and disgraced just the way our past leaders were humiliated by these same elements, the Yoruba nation would have been made to suffer for uprightness.”

The governor condemned the Tuesday, sponsored protest against the APC leader at the party’s national secretariat, saying; “it is unfortunate that Tinubu is now being vilified in a party he invested heavily in and his fellow kinsmen that he brought up politically are part of this conspiracy.

“In their desperation, they have even tried to set him against the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, by insinuating that tried to prevent his (Osinbajo) emergence as President Mohammadu Buhari’s running mate, this is sad!”

He lamented that “when other tribes protect its own, it is becoming historically common among the Yorubas to allow themselves to be used against their leaders just for momentary political gains at the expense of the collective interests of the Yoruba nation.

“It should be noted that late Chief Obafemi Awolowo was sent to jail by the conspiracy and collaboration of some Yorubas with the external aggressors.”

Governor Fayose said; “Tinubu is a prominent stakeholder, we should not sit back and watch while those he used his own sweat to make conspired with others to humiliate him.

“Most importantly, it is my position that irrespective of political affiliation, no leader of the Yoruba nation must be vilified unduly, especially by the same people who humiliated our past
leaders like Obafemi Awolowo, Adekunle Ajasin, Bola Ige, Bisi Onabanjo, Lateef Jakande and others.

“To me, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu should not be seen just as an APC leader, but acknowledged as a major stakeholder in the Yoruba nation that we must all protect beyond politics.

”It should be recalled that these were among the issues that I raised when I visited Governor Rauf Aregbesola of Osun State few months ago on the need to work together beyond party affiliations.

“Here in Yorubaland, it is said that if a household is at peace, it is because the bastard child of the family is yet to attain the age of maturity and those people that Asiwaju Tinubu made, but are now being used against him should watch it.

“I therefore condemn this conspiracy against Asiwaju Tinubu and I admonish those that are hoping to make political benefits from it to have a rethink.”

The governor, who called for greater unity among the Yorubas, added that; “We are first Yorubas before becoming members of political parties, it is my opinion that our le

I am starting to like Fayose.

He just spoke the truth, and nothing else.

I salute you Fayose. The conspiracy against Tinubu will fail, because like I said in an earlier article, the man brings in progressives together for a greater good.

As it stands today. Tinubu is the only influential political figure in Nigeria, and a lot of people are not happy about that, and for the fact he is Yoruba,is even making them more angry.

The right to be called a leader is earned, and Tinubu has earned that right.

Fayose, for speaking the truth for the first time in your life,I might start to look at you some other way.

Keep it up.

I respect this great warrior called Peter 'The Rock' Fayose so much. How I wish he can denounce and reject SW and join us in SE/SS. He likes his people but I'm always surprise why Yorubas don't like him.

On a second thought I'm not too surprise though because Yorubas hate all their prominent leaders that worked with Abacha but surprisingly sing praises of Buhari who also worked with Abacha and even defended Abacha's corruption. Pathetic!!!

One does not even have to be Yoruba to see how ungrateful the people behind that thin veil are.

I read in a Psychology text a while back that people become ungrateful because the part of their ego responsible for cognitive biases filters out the helpful events they have experienced.

It is the kind of attitude that makes those who are in a position to help reluctant to, regardless how much they are moved to.

Bad thing about these ingrates is that they often deny a lot more innocent people a chance at salvation.

The heart of man is indeed very wicked!

I don't understand why the face-off between Tinubu and members of his political party has been reduced to an ethnic war. Tinunu took the biggest gamble of his political career by aligning with Buhari to win the 2015 Presidential election but sadly he is getting the short end of the stick

He was a beautiful bride prior to the election but he is slowly being made a pariah by those he helped secure victory. Such is the vicissitude of politics.

Tinubu's motives for teaming up with Buhari's CPC were never about the advancement of the Yorubas. If it were so, he would have insisted that the devolution of power and true federalism be made a cardinal part of the APC's campaign manifesto. Two agendas the Yorubas have always pushed for.

It is heart warming that his political foes have thrown their weight behind him since the political onslaught on him began. I only hope he is learning some salutary lessons and will build on this open show of support by his hitherto political adversaries.

Tinubu is a strategist. No matter how good u are, you cannot get it right all the time.

In 2011, the southwest loves GEJ and Tinubu aligned himself with pdp.
By 2015 GEJ has dissapointed, most yorubas are tired of pdp which gives room for tinubu with other regional power bloc to float Apc.

APC will be making a huge mistake by treating him unfairly. Fashola and fayemi cannot boast of same charisma with tinubu.

Fayose I hope you don't have cheek in your tongue or is this the yoruba realignment thayt ffk is talking about.

What gibberish is this.
Tinubu is a respected politician, we all know that. But he his never the number one Yoruba man. No matter the humiliation he received it can only be accounted to his name and those that bears it. Any humiliation he received is to his family.

Sometimes I felt bad and angered when I hear this man speak. Why would a sane man, Yoruba at that, put the blame and misdeeds of one man on another only because he is related to them.
