[/i] The DSS has given reasons for its overnight assault on some senior judges which was widely reported in the Nigerian media today, October 8.
The destruction caused by the DSS in the home of one of the judges overnight Speaking to journalists in Abuja, one Garba Abdullahi representing the spokesperson of the
agency, said the judges have been under investigation for a while before their arrest.
His words: “We have been monitoring the expensive lifestyles of these judges and following
complaints on judgments made by these judges.
“The searches have uncovered huge cash both foreign and local cash.”
He said while some of the arrested judges have made confessions, some are yet to make statement irrespective of evidence before them.

He also said on the case of one of the judges, $2 million was discovered and with the help of a
serving governor, the judge moved the money away from his residence to an unknown location.
“In one of the states where the service operations were conducted, credible intelligence
revealed that the judge had $2 million stashed in his house.
“When he was approached for due search to be conducted, he in concert with the state governor
mobilized thugs against the service team.
“The team restrained itself in the face of unbridled provocative activities by those brought
in by the governor,” Abdullahi said.
“We are doing everything possible to see that we have sanity in our country,” Abdullahi added.
Abdullahi refused to mention the name of the serving governor, but all evidence points to the
fact that he was referring to Rivers state governor, Barrister Nyesome Wike.
In the early hours of today, October 8, Wike stopped an attempt by men of the DSS and the Police to abduct an unnamed judge in his
residence.
Abdullahi also stated that the current operation will be sustained until sanity and confidence is
regained.
Abdullahi however dismissed insinuations in some media reports that Justice Walter Onnoghen was one of the judges being investigated or arrested.
Justice Walter Onnoghen is the Supreme Court nominee for Chief Justice of Nigeria.

Meanwhile, former aviation minister and erstwhile spokesperson for the Goodluck Jonathan presidential campaign organization, Femi Fani-Kayode says Nigeria is in trouble
following the abduction like arrest of judges across different states by operatives of the DSS.
Reacting through a statement made available to NAIJ.com, Femi Fani-Kayode said it is time for
Nigerians to stand up against the Buhari led APC government.
