I pity those crying wolf. I will like to remind them of how much tears they shed during the Ricky Tarfa case and how the same Tarfa has now been found guilty and is working hard to agree a plead bargain deal.

you can say that again..

For the attention of those criticising the action of the DSS!
BASIC GUIDE TO ARGUING EITHER IN FAVOUR OR AGAINST THE RECENT ARRESTS OF SOME JUDICIAL OFFICERS BY THE DSS.
Before you argue either in favour of the recent arrests of some judicial officers by the DSS, it is important that most of you know the following facts. They will guide you to argue intelligently and intelligibly. This is my part of contribution to the change agenda.

1. No judicial officer has immunity against, arrest, search, investigation and/or prosecution in respect of an allegation of crime.

2. The National Judicial Commission (NJC) is responsible for the appointment, discipline/punishment of judicial officers only in respect of breach of judicial ethics, and not crime.

3. Even where a judicial officer has been sanctioned by the NJC for any misconduct, the state still reserves the right to prosecute the erring officer if his misconduct amounts to a crime.

4. The Administration of Criminal Justice Act (2015) is the procedural law that guides the activities of all federal investigating and prosecutorial agencies like the police, EFCC, ICPC, DSSS,etc., as well as the Federal High Court, High Court of the FCT, National Industrial Court, Code of Conduct Tribunal, etc.

5. Any action taken by any prosecutorial agency either during investigation or prosecution must be in line with the ACJA

4. Under the ACJA, there is no time limit or time frame when a person can be arrested. There is no day that a person cannot be arrested.

5. Sections 12 (2) & 13 ACJA give a law officer the power to break into and out of any house for the purpose of arresting a suspect who fails to let the arresting officer in.

6. Section 43 (1) ACJA states: "A warrant of arrest may be executed on any day, including a Sunday or public holiday."
7. The person arresting may not necessarily be the person to prosecute. A private person may arrest a suspect and hand him over to a prosecuting authority(Section 23 ACJA).

8. A person may be arrested notwithstanding that the person arresting him is not in possession of an arrest warrant on demand, but can show the warrant as soon as practicable. Section 44 ACJA.

9. "A warrant of arrest issued by a Federal High Court sitting anywhere may be executed in any part of Nigeria." Section 47 (1) ACJA.

10. A search warrant can be executed by anyone to whom it is directed (Section 147 ACJA).

11. "A search warrant may be issued and executed at any time on any day, including a Sunday or public holiday."(Section 148).

12. Apart from the President, vice president, Governor and a Deputy Governor, no other person has immunity from arrest and/or prosecution

Meanwhile the judges have been
released. What was the fuse about then?
I am yet to read any report claiming they have been released and if they have been released, could it then be that they have been released as DSS have gotten enough information?

The president should get ready to order more arrests soon, customs officials, police, army, EFCC, even the DSS and SSS, immigration, CBN and all other occupants of public office deserve more invasion.

The question is does the fight against corruption make it right to invade/swoop on persons and make arrests based on suspicions and allegation without due process.

Mr president must be advised not to test the resolve of the masses

None of you has been able to tell us what was wrong in hiw tge DSS arrested those thieves called honorables.

The govt agents were in possession of valid search and arrest warrants. And once the judges resisted being searched or arrested, it's normal for DSS to do their job by any means necessary.

It doesn't matter who does what or how what was achieved, just so long as they get things done.

All the years we have been applying due process, how has it helped Nigerians? Rather, it allowed corruption to fester. If anything, the Nigerian due process has aided and abetted corruption for far too long.

You want a better country, yet resist every attempt at salvaging it. Nobody gets anything done by doing the exact same thing that has failed to work.

I find it funny that you of all people, refer to others as illiterates. Your post gives you up each attempt you make at sounding clever. You never reach!

The fact that he has made this issue a tribal issue is even a piss off! Folks now don't want to stand up and do what's right because of some d*mb interest! Until we start doing what's right irrespective of the personality or the position, we would keep going round the same circle!

God bless for the wisdom!

The reason why Nigeria's corruption is unprecedented and unrivaled anywhere else in the world is the sheer amount of people involved in it, and how many citizens are ready to go out to defend corruption.

For those who defend corruption, I'll ask you a few questions:
(1) Can you estimate the number of deaths caused by accident due to poor roads - simply because government officials looted funds meant to construct and repair roads?
(2) Can you estimate the number of people who die yearly from health-related issues - simply because government officials looted funds meant to build health-care centers and provide drugs there?
(3) Can you estimate the number of people who die yearly from water-borne diseases - simply because government officials looted funds meant to provide portable water to citizens?
(4) Can you estimate the number of people who die yearly from malnutrition - simply because government officials looted funds meant to provide good jobs for citizens?

I can go on and on, but I'm sure you get the point. Corruption is a million times worse that BH, Fulani Herdsmen, ND Militants, ISIS, etc. Deaths caused by corruption is not as brazen and cannot be pinned down to any one person. But it slowly and progressively takes away lives in their thousands every single day.

Call it Gestapo-tactics or not, I stand with Buhari on this one. These primitively corrupt criminals subject our national treasury and common wealth to even worse Gestapo-looting.

Nicely put together sir!

We should look beyond tribal and religious sentiments! Until then will things be done right!

Which masses? You mean the same masses that are supporting the fight against corruption? Those you mention up there will be visited in time but the Judiciary need to be cleansed first.

The best advice anyone can give to members of Nigeria's judiciary is that if they want to escape gestapo style arrest, they should join APC. If they do, then just like Bola Tinubu, Rotimi Amaechi and Rochas Okorocha, they will be deemed innocent. In fact, just like in Abacha's era, they should get the APC lapel pin and wear it for good measure!
