Content Curator/Writer
We're hiring dedicated content creators to drive a media company forward by generating exciting and engaging news items.
You will be responsible for owning and organising the publication of comprehensive and engaging news content relating to the Nigeria, Africa and the world, ensuring a high standard of coverage.

Your responsibilities will include:
1. Researching, gathering and writing news for print, web and social media
2. Provide authoritative, high-quality news content through exclusives, opinion, analysis, video, audio, blogging and social media, working to digital deadlines
3. Tell stories through pictures, video, audio, live blogs and other interactive digital storytelling tools, using innovative storytelling techniques that grow audiences and reach
4. Maintaining, managing and developing editorial contacts and build a strong network of contacts within Nigeria and abroad.
5. Engage with the local community on social media to source the stories they want to read, and to share published stories
6. Use social media to spot and generate stories and identify relevant trending content
7. Use analytics to inform content decisions, creating content around what's trending in local business
8. Being the face of the company at industry events


The ideal candidate for this role will have:
1. Keen and talented writers. If you’ve written for a website or publication before that’s a bonus, but if this is your first chance to do so, then seize the moment!
2. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
3. Social media savviness.
4. Time management skills and ability to meet publication deadlines.
5. Our ideal candidates will be passionate about news, skilful in contact making and highly effective at researching and writing stories, as well as having the ability to identify relevant angles to ensure deep engagement with readers.
6. Although the successful applicant will ideally have at least two years’ writing/reporting experience, recent graduates who can demonstrate the talent and aptitude required to grow into the role will also be considered. This is a dynamic working environment where creativity and potential are highly valued.
7. Languages (Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa) would be huge advantages.
8. Applicants located in Abuja are preferred but freelance writers are also welcome.
