Good day All,
A 2nd-hand heated oxygen sensor is being considered or purchase. The current (or voltage?) has been checked (9 or 0.9, can't remember). It throws up low volts (P0131 error code when scanned in-use).
How serious is this fault? Will there be any actual savings on fuel consumption? Any sense spending 10-12k on toks?

No info information on the car model which will be used to explain the situation better .
The o2 sensor is one of the most important fuel management system in your car which is why it is expensive and failure to rectify the issue you are encountered with it will lead to paying for it more in form of frequent patronage of filling station
But do yourselves a favour ,don't buy 02 sensor yet until it has been confirmed 100% that it is faulty cos you have a code pointing to it doesn't meant it is faulty.
Maybe u need to visit a specialist to diagnosis it fully well for u .
If you need one and you are in Lagos ,call autologic @08061166316

Bro you know my reply will be to ask what keke napep. But I'll just leave that for now. I hardly buy brand new sensors, mainly because of the price. Presently a genuine desnso O2 sensor costs about 40-50k depending on source, while you can get a toks for 10-20k. Most times our O2 sensor die prematurely due to sudden shock (exhaust striking a hard surface, welder striking exhaust, vehicle hitting pot holes) the heater element breaks and throws a heater code. Now back to your issue, provide us with more info and you will get better responses.

Thanks, honmusa. Thanks, Gazzuzz.

A scan on Honda Accord V6, 2002 model throws up 2codes, P0131 and P0141 (Sensor 1 low volts and Sensor 2 heater malfunction). Just those 2codes. I desire spectacular fuel savings in this economy. Unfortunately, I cannot afford brand new sensors.
If I buy toks, what error code(s) will be an improvement?

Cc: luvinhubby (Thanks for the plugs...come and give us CHANGE ERA market price for brand new and any toks my Ogas above mention...)

Please are o2 sensor universal fits? one size fits all?

That is do their thread length and diameter differ just like spark plugs differ from car to car?

they differ. Let me give you an example, the 4cylinder 2001 accord made in usa and the 4 cylinder 2001 accord (ULEV) made in Canada have different O2 sensors.

Oga gazzuzz, my 02 Avalon when scanned because of MIL coming on showed the code in the picture. What do you think is wrong? I at first thought it was oxygen sensor, but it appears it might be the ETCS/idle air control. How do I describe this to my mechanic and what is the estimated cost of part change in your experience?

you are derailing but I'll answer you this time, for next one open a thread.

Your avalon is 2002 so it will use a throttle cable it will also have an idle speed control system, ask your mechanic to look at the pic (idle control) he should know what to do.

Yes. Thank you Gazzuzz, you're God sent. I was wowed by your insight and wealth of experience. There are very few of you around in my opinion.

I'll drop it off for the other fix on Monday morning. Thanks so much sir.

Google your car mpg online and compare with what you have ,

Nothing is wrong either

You cannot get factory (city) mpg under the conditions experienced on Nigerian roads.

A Brand new kia Rio 1.8l does 80-100km for every 10litres. City driving.

But, idling for long consumes fuel.
