;DAll of una na jonkie, why dont you come and see the new lagos the state withone of  teh longest bridge in the world the 3rd mainland bridge ok so what is that in crime and disease even in london paris newyork japan, there is crime. and disease ok PH is just a shanty city ion my eyees, them fit boast of a common sky skrapper, abeg make una talk well jor, Lagos is the commercial heart of Nigeria and boast of 13million people and over,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Third_Mainland_Bridge

The Third Mainland Bridge is the longest of three bridges connecting Lagos Island, Lagos, Nigeria to the mainland, the other two being the Eko and Carter bridges. It is the longest bridge in Africa. The bridge starts from Oworonshoki which is linked to the Apapa-Oshodi express way and Lagos-Ibadan express way, and ends at the Adeniji Adele Interchange on Lagos Island. There is also a link midway through the bridge that leads to the Herbert Macaulay Way, Yaba. The Bridge was built by Julius Berger Nigeria PLC and opened by President Ibrahim Babangida in 1990: it measures about 11.8km in length.

However, there are recent reports that the Third Mainland Bridge is now vibrating, indicating that it needs urgent attention[1].

Remedial work has commenced on the failed portions of the bridge

Port Harcourt shanty city? So Lagos kwanu, is it not the gross obese swelling land that no foreigner wants to go to again? Is it the third mainland bridge that your boasting of, how do you know port harcourt wouldn't have had one if it needed it. Dirty Lagos infested with armed robbers, if your brave go out at 3 am on Lagos streets to see development.  grin

Some confused minds on the prowl in NL.

Why compare Lagos with PHC?
Re: Do you know anything about "Greater Port Harcourt City?" by ProAnti: 12:47pm On Oct 28, 2009
One is a one-road city developed by the state government. The other is a city-state developed by the Federal government and currently being expanded by the state government.
Re: Do you know anything about "Greater Port Harcourt City?" by ezeagu(m): 3:52pm On Oct 28, 2009
They have been compared because some want them to be compared as they do not know anything out of the little world they live in. BTW how is Port Harcourt a 'one-road city'? And what does that even mean?

Igbos talk more about Port Harcourt than even the Rivers people, Why is that so ?
Re: Do you know anything about "Greater Port Harcourt City?" by Nobody: 5:53pm On Oct 04, 2010
The GREATER PORT hARCOURT PROJECT IS NOTHING BUT THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE COMMUNITIES AND VILLAGES at the Northern side of the Port harcourt city. There are close to 100 or more communities including Igwurita, Oyigbo and co at that end. Rivers state government intend to construct link roads to this area and to have a planned settlement for developers. This would favor the Igbos who are sharing border with such communities. Rivers state government has chosen to do this for reasons best known to it but it is seen by the other Rivers indigenes asn Ohaneze PLAN using the Igboid rulers of Rivers state at this to bring Rivers wealth closer to the Igbo front since their struggle to hyjack Port Harcourt city from the Okrikas over the years failed.

Hijack? The Igbo own Port Harcourt, no ones taking it anywhere, it's Igboland, get over it. And you're seriously paranoid. Greater Port Harcourt, FULL SPEED AHEAD!

Port Harcourt today comprises of many towns. The Original Port Harcourt which is now called Fimieama is an Okrika town, Abuloma is an Okrika town, Borokiri is an Okrika town, Amadi ama is an Okrika town, Parts of Diobu is an Ikwere town, The whole of Obio Akpo is made up of Ikwere villages, Woji is an Ikwere town, Right now Port harcourt includes Eleme which is an Ogoni town, Onne which is also an Ogoni town, Okrika mainland itself is now a part of Port harcourt and it is home to the Refineries. That is Port harcourt today, Greater PH is a ploy by the Etche group to develop their land and make it part of the Port harcourt. Etche is obviously Igboid. who knows pretty soon development would cross the Imo river and the entire IGBO LAND WOULD BE PORT HARCOURT,

The Igbos that always talk about Port harcourt are not even from Rivers  state, you can see how useless and stupid they are. Rivers  state indigenes  do not have any problem . Ogoni, Ikwere, Okrika, Kalabari   have always been the people making port harcourt city and eventually the whole area is going to engulf their land to the envy of the imo and abia  IGBOS as usual,

Do you know that the population of eastern Igbos is more than that of Ogoni, Okrika and Kalabari put together. Without Igbos port-hacourt won't be what it is today. Eastern Igbos have invested a lot in that city even more than the Rivers Igbo(Ikwerre).

Most big cities in Nigeria are shanty towns.

Any updates on this project? I heard there is a functional airport and a stadium under construction nearby right now.
Re: Do you know anything about "Greater Port Harcourt City?" by otokx(m): 5:51pm On Oct 17, 2012
The functional airport in quote has always been there and the stadium under construction is what we call a white elephant project because 2 other stadiums in Port Harcourt are not being used regularly so why build a 3rd?
Re: Do you know anything about "Greater Port Harcourt City?" by megainvest: 10:12pm On Oct 17, 2012
Ok. Does anyone have a detailed map of the area? The ones posted here are not clear.

There is this HUGE urban redevelopment project proposed for PH called the "Greater Port Harcourt City" project, and it's going to forever change the face of Port Harcourt. This project will further boost the economic importance to the east, and finally provide an appropriate environment for multinational corporations to operate (that are close to the fields). In the next decade, PH is going to be seeing some major changes.

Is it possible to get a full map of GPH city?

There you go again!!! Igbo this; Igbo that. Why is Igbo developing other people's land forgetting to develop theirs if truly Igbo develop PHC n Lagos? Even after Yoruba's help develop the Igbo brain, we didn't hold them to ransom for it. As a Yoruba man, I was shocked to know the Igbo had no alphabet until the Yoruba icon, Bishop Samuel Ajayi Crowther, help them compose the one they use till this day. But quite unfortunate that some cantankerous Igbo fighting and arguing blindly today didn't even know this fact!
