ColeworldMD: If you can see it when you search then it available... Try to put the phone on LTE only..... If your modem support LTE then try it as well... I can't get a new phone cos of 4G , so im using MTN Mifi.. Even my house is not on the coverage area but i got 3bars LTE speed above 50Mpbs DoDownload and 40mpbs upload Seems those representative are not current..... |

brightk: At least the Glorified 4G...even if it is 50mpbs. It is still far better , now i dont wait for page to keep rolling... Time is money... What i do for 2 hours online before is now don in 30 minutes...... Its is two way.... Some have been using their sim 6- 10 years ago so they need to upgrade the sim... For MTN If your sim was bought within 1 year ago it is 4G already... For Etisalat no upgrade all their sim were Usim from inception.... Glo you need an LTE sim.. Now to devices... You must have 4G also it must support the network"s provider band... 2 Likes |

dustmalik: Though MTN acquired the 800Mhz spectrum, it is not authorized to use it yet because of the litigation. Currently MTN uses only band 7.. 2 Likes |

TechRez:im sure iPhone 5s supports band 7. I just don't know why it's such a big deal to connect |

Dam5reey:wait... You are getting 10Mbps and its not that cool?? Jesu.. Its a wireless cellular connection, not a wired broadband... You expect it be like you are copying a file from a core i7 pc with 32Gb RAM using a thunderbolt connection.. |
Re: Glo 4G LTE - First Speedtest & Review by dustmalik(m): 5:42pm On Oct 23, 2016 |
ColeworldMD: A1530 and A1457 are the only variants of iPhone 5s that support band 7. Which one do you own? |
Re: Glo 4G LTE - First Speedtest & Review by ColeworldMD(m): 6:37pm On Oct 23, 2016 |
dustmalik:how can I check it? |
Re: Glo 4G LTE - First Speedtest & Review by dustmalik(m): 6:45pm On Oct 23, 2016 |
ColeworldMD:It's written on the back of your iPhone. |
Re: Glo 4G LTE - First Speedtest & Review by ColeworldMD(m): 7:15pm On Oct 23, 2016 |
dustmalik:A1533 but I sent 4G to 131 & MTN said I'm eligible. |
Re: Glo 4G LTE - First Speedtest & Review by dustmalik(m): 7:20pm On Oct 23, 2016 |
ColeworldMD:Your variant doesn't support band 7(2600). Here are the bands it supports LTE band 1(2100), 2(1900), 3(1800), 4(1700/2100), 5(850), 8(900), 13(700), 17(700), 19(800), 20(800), 25(1900) - A1533 GSM, A1533 CDMA MTN system got that one wrong. Maybe it assumed, since it's an iPhone 5s, it should work, without considering the various variants of it. |
Re: Glo 4G LTE - First Speedtest & Review by ColeworldMD(m): 8:46pm On Oct 23, 2016 |
dustmalik:but MTN supports 2 bands so I guess that's why. Plus someone here said the second band is currently not deployed |
Re: Glo 4G LTE - First Speedtest & Review by dustmalik(m): 9:07pm On Oct 23, 2016 |
ColeworldMD:Yes. Right now, the band being officially used by MTN is band 7, and your device doesn't support that, hence why MTN 4G isn't working on your device. Maybe when they resolve their litigation issue, NCC might give them the go ahead to deploy band 20. One of the reasons MTN acquired Visafone was because of the 800mhz spectrum. |
