The Lagos State Government will today, Monday, October 24, 2016, arraign the key suspects arrested in connection with the kidnap of Oniba of Iba, Oba Yishau Goriola Oseni. The suspects will be arraigned before Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo of Court 24 at the Lagos High Court, Igbosere.
In a statement issued by the State’s Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Adeniji Kazeem, the four suspects – Duba Furejo, Ododomo Isaiah, Reuben Anthony and Yerin Fresh would be arraigned for offences of conspiracy to murder, armed robbery and kidnapping.
Specifically, Kazeem said the suspects would be arraigned on eight count charges relating to kidnapping of the monarch, murder of the palace security guard – Sunday Eniola Okanlawon, and a commercial motorcycle rider, Joseph Okeke.
They would also be arraigned on attempted murder of the monarch’s wife, Olori Abosede Oseni and armed robbery of the Olori’s property.
While expressing the resolve of the present administration to rid the State of all forms of criminality, the Attorney General said his office would work closely with all security agencies to ensure that all cases of kidnapping, cultism, rape, sexual and domestic violence crimes are swiftly prosecuted to a logical conclusion. “The swift commencement of the trial of the suspects in the kidnap of the Oniba is a strong signal by the administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode that it is not business as usual for criminals. If you commit a crime, we will find you and prosecute you no matter how long it takes,” he said.
Kazeem however assured that the present administration is determined to halt the scourge of kidnapping, cultist killing, raping and murder in the State.
You would recall that the Oniba of Iba, Oba Yishau Goriola Oseni was kidnapped on Saturday, July 16, 2016. During the incident, a palace security guard, Sunday Eniola Okanlawon, and a commercial motorcycle rider, Joseph Okeke were killed while the monarch spent weeks in captivity.

I just hope this case has been diligently investigated before the court arraignment and subsequently trial
I hope the necessary evidences have been gathered and required witnesses assemble and motivated to do their civic duties. ‘Confessional Statement(s)’ may easily be dispensed with.
I hope the prosecution is prepared and determined to do a good job
I hope these accused persons do not disappear (‘jump bail’) midway through and the court tell us that sureties cannot be located.
I hope the court will not compound this case or frustrate prosecution with undue/prolonged adjournment(s)

Wishing you all a speedy trial and justice.

Nigeria Justice System is something else
