Yesterday, some militants in Rivers state "black zone", Gokana Local Government Area, surrendered their "sophisticated" weapons, charms and other items to the Amnesty committee -in an event graced by different security agencies.

Now mixed feelings have trailed this act -considering the type of weapons that were recovered from the militants, knowing how dangerous the region is.

According to reports, Gokana LGA has been the bloodiest in the past one year -recording series of assassinations and politically motivated killings. Dr Vyncent Eebee, a lecturer with the Rivers State Polytechnic and a chieftain of APC was gunned down by a gang of dare-devil gunmen in that area and some other APC chieftains.

I watched the movie Black November last night and then i saw the plight of the Niger Deltians. I just hope the Govt will be sincere with the amnesty and not being fake like those in the said movie.
