Football is a game of tactics, athleticism and fans. All are needed to make a match successful. We all feel dejected when our teams lose and the opposite is true when we lose. However, there are some players who take in results a bit too far. Sometimes it is about a single match but in other times it is the repercussion of the occasion and the moment that make it hard to take.

Take for instance the tears shown by Cristiano Ronaldo when he got injured in the EURO 2016 Final against France last summer. It was his first final for his country and he had worked so hard over the years to get there. It must be tough for everybody when you see a glorious opportunity disappearing right in front of your eyes.

Today we therefore take a look at seven players who have sobbed uncontrollably in recent years;

7. Serey Die- Ivory Coast

Ivory Coast International Serey Die shocked the entire World when he was shown shedding tears when the national anthem of Ivory Coast was played before the game against Cameroon. He had just got his first cap and that made him emotional.

This is what he said after the match: “I was going to play for my country,” Die said.

“I didn’t think that one day I would be here, playing”.

6. David Luiz- Chelsea/Brazil

The year 2014 will go down as the year of Brazil humiliation. They were all smiles when they realized for the second time in history, they were going to host the World greatest Showpiece, the World Cup and to many that meant even lifting the trophy to emulate the Pele generation.

However, the story ended badly for the Chelsea defender David Luiz and his teammates. They were humiliated 7-1 by eventual Champions Germany in the semi final in a fashion that shocked the entire globe. The former PSG man was blamed for poor defending but when you lose by that margin, everybody including the coaching staff takes the blame. He cried and cried and cried and we all felt for him. That was a serious hammering in front of home fans. The entire Samba nation will never forget that day.

5. John Terry- Chelsea

Chelsea Captain JohnTerry has seen it all in his career. He has been a great leader on the pitch for the only club he has ever known all his life. He has helped them win titles and battles when needed and he has stood up for the badge all his career.

However, controversies never seem to leave his bedroom but that is not the topic today. We all remember 2008 Champions League final. Manchester United had wasted one of their penalties and it was John Terry time to give his club the glory by scoring the fifth spot kick. He slipped and his penalty went over. The red devils won it in the second batch of spot kicks. The Chelsea skipper cried, cried and then cried some more. The World empathized with him but the trophy was gone.

4. Mario Balotelli- Nice/Italy

Italian striker Mario Balotelli was all tears when his country lost in the final of Euro 2012 to defending Champions Spain. La roja were the worthy winners but Super Mario thought his country deserved it too. He sobbed uncontrollably after the match and it continued even after getting a hug from his adopted parents. Bad boys can be emotional too.
