I like to look at both local and global trends in order to make sound polical and economic judgments.

The future of oil is looking really bad.

If Nigerian oil-based unity must be sustained into the next decade, then we need a visionary leader that can inspire us as a nation and take our economy to the next level and just take our mind away from sharing oil proceeds.

Sorry Niger Deltans, you won't get your resource control. It's too late now. Even if Nigeria miraculously gives it to you today, you won't have enough time to use it to repair the decades of damage and build for the future.

As the revolution in the electric car industry continues in the west, the demand for oil will reduce which will further depreciate its price.

This is just my prediction based on current trends and I welcome opposing views.

Other trends include

Oil extraction technology: Today, with advanced technology, oil that were hard to reach are now possible example is the USA fracking.

OPEC refusal to come to agreement. Even if they do, there are now non OPEC members with increasing production and not bound by OPEC agreement.

More oil is still being discovered all over the world. Example the arckaringa basin in Australia which could be double of Saudi Arabia reserve.

The Paris climate agreement will start today which mandates nations to move away from fossil fuel. More infrastructure globally will be geared towards green technologies.
