My take again on this topic is this, if a king of a kingdom dies and a total stranger inherits the kingdom, ie, Emir of Kano, Sultan of Sokoto, Ooni of Ife, Alafin of Oyo, these are no kingdoms. These kings are turn by turn. Bayero's son did not inherit the Emirship of Kano, ditto Sijuade's son but the title was given to another family who was not even the first son, Dasuki was deposed as Sultan and another took over, not his son but a cousin or relative. But the Oba of Benin cannot be selected. The day the first son of the Oba is born, that is the day the next king is known. And he will be trained in the ways and manners of his people. There are only two kingdoms in the world: The Benin Kingdom and the United Kingdom. These two kingdoms interface with each other in values and traditions though the Benin Kingdom is higher. They have Prince of Wales and Edaiken of Uselu. These posts are for crown Princes, waiting to take over the throne though Prince Charles don tire for him mama. The brothers of both Kings are made Dukes and Enogies to rule over smaller villages. When the brother of Queen Elizabeth abdicated the throne, he was replaced by a lady, Queen Elizabeth. That is an abomination in Benin Kingdom. When Oba Ovoranmen was banished to Calabar, his son did nothing but waited until his father's death before he became King. And from the first king to the 40th king of Benin Kingdom, they are from Father to Son just like the kingdom of Judah in the Bible whose kings were Father to Son while Israel's kings were by selection. The Sultan, Kano Emir and Ooni are political titles, they never knew that they will be king at any point in time. These are the Nairabet winners. They gambled and won and they make themselves visible by commenting on every issue. You dont hear the Oba of Benin do that. He has Chiefs from the Palace that speaks on his behalf. And these Chiefs are also from known Houses who inherited the titles from their fathers. Benin Empire was visible up to Ghana. Togo's Presidents always come to Benin City because the Eyademas claim that they come from Benin. There are three Universities of Benin in West Africa, One in Togo, One in Benin Republic and one in Benin City. The Benin Republic was known as Dahomey but they later changed their name to Benin to recognize their origin. Benin Empire might be small but it was commanding a lot of kingdoms and peoples. The United Kingdom was less than 45m people but they were in control of India comprising of Bangladesh, Pakistan and India which in today's census figures are more than 2.5 b people today. A small 3 countries in One with less than 45m people were controlling over 5 b people including Nigeria, Canada, Kenya and many countries of their COMMONWEALTH. What led to the fall of the British Empire is linked to the curse that was placed on the kingdom by the Benin Iwebo shrines for invading the Benin Kingdom and carting away all their artefacts both from the Holy Aruosa and the king's palace and the banishment of the king into exile. If you read Jeremiah in the Bible, that scenario was described as King Nebuchadnezzer of Babylon who was sent to destroy the kingdom and take the king into exile. The effect of that curse led the king of to abdicate the throne because of a divorced American lady.. And the current quagmire facing Prince Charles who is not preferred to be king but the grandson. Queen Elizabeth came to Benin City in the 60s to beg Oba Akenzua for forgiveness and I have no information if it was done else they would have voluntarily returned the artefacts they stole from the kingdom. Make I go rest. Merry Christmas to all citizens from the Bini Kingdom and long live the 40th Oba of Benin, Ewuare 11 the Great.

I am sorry, but this uber-narrow definition of 'Kingdom' is super ridiculous. I hope you don't teach Government in any school sha.

Dunno where you rats crawl out from, with the crap you spew.Where's one to even start responding to this piece of garbage here?.
A few corrections, just for the records.
Prince Ogun, who became Ewuare 1,did not wait for his brother,Uwaifiokhun,to die before ascending the throne. He simply murdered him.
Queen Elizabeth II never had a brother, but a younger sister,Margaret. The queen succeeded her father,George VI,who in turn succeeded his brother,Edward VIII,who abdicated.
All European monarchies have Crown Princes, from the Iberian peninsula to Scandinavia.
Having a crown prince succeed to the throne, doesn't a kingdom make however.

As to the OP,stupidity at its peak.

Guy Edo is nothing to compare to igbo...

Igbo has Kingdom which is the same as empire, only daft people don't know that both words are the same...

Meanwhile Edo as a whole both the lost empire and her people has been reduced to nothing but one state...
You guys are now liabilities that can only be powerful at night wielding brooms and flying around disturbing neighbours.

Mugu, kingdom and empire are not the same.
