Yesterday BBC named thier African player of the year shortlists for 2016.

The first nominee's is Liverpool's hot sensational striker Sadio mane ,West Ham's Andre Ayew,Leicester city wonder boy Riyad Mahrez, Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and lastly the name that shock everyone out-of favour Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure.

The list looks so crystal clear that either Riyad Mahrez or Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are favourites to clinch the prestigious award

The list might come as a surprise to Nigerians who are looking forward to see either Iheanacho or Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi make the shortlist rather than Yaya Toure.

Yaya Toure who has not been a regular for the CIty since the start of this current campaign,but had a checkered history with the African player of the year award. This is the eighth time Yaya Toure has been shortlisted and to all amazement his fans on Twiterr reacted in astonishment
