The governor of Adamawa State, Muhammad Jibrilla, has denied media report suggesting that he has declared his support for the 2019 presidential bid of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.
A statement by Martins Dickson, the ‎Special Assistant to the governor on Press and Media Affairs, said the governor did not make any statement concerning 2019 elections during the flag-off of Girei-Pariya-Wuro Bokki road on Thursday.
The statement pointed out that it was an unfair misrepresentation of Governor Jibrilla’s speech.
“The governor only stated that Atiku is like a father to him and he has no political godfather as insinuated by some sections of the media. He then thanked President Muhammadu Buhari for bringing peace to the North-East and Nigeria as whole and called on the people of Adamawa to unite and make the state a better place,” the statement read in part.
It called on the people to disregard the content of the publication, assuring them of more focused leadership committed to fulfilling campaign promises.
