WHAT DO YOU EXPECT WHEN FULANI HERDSMEN a.k.a UNKNOWN GUNMEN RAVAGING ON FARM PRODUCE WITH THEIR COWS ON PEOPLE FARMS AND SHOOTING THEM TO VACATE THEIR VILLAGES. COME TO SOUTHERN KADUNA AN SEE HOW THEY DROVE PEOPLE FROM THEIR SETTLEMENTS WHILE IT IS NOW HARVEST TIME, FARMERS IN THAT AREA CAN'T GO TO HARVEST BECAUSE IT'S EITHER THEY GET KILLED OR THE COWS HAVE DESTROYED THE CROPS

Sorry dear, there was famine in 1984 when Buhari was the head of state. Stop blaming GEJ, your Buhari has been a failure from Birth. Any time you visit your village, try and look out for an old man of 73years to be your manager.

The cattle rearers and farmers do not remit a single penny to the national treasury. Rather they go about freely and carelessly, thinking agriculture is only about land and rainfall, without any economic /scientific research institute and administrative structure to reap it's benefit through taxation and proper policy frame work for society's .
it's so sad that to think Buhari can revive agriculture without building a frame work and research institute. It's like pouring water in a basket.
Food security does not end in the farm, it is a complex web of policy and business activities from farm to agro allied industries to serve national interest.
This is where he should have put all his energy, but he would rather be the petroleum minister than the agricultural minister.

Good question but unfortunately this government is all about the more you look the less you see. Instead of being proactive and proffering solutions they always resort to blame game.

Pray you will be alive to see Nigerians suffer in that 2017....

what is he saying? When i had of famine i thought it s due to lack of rainfall, suprised cos there was more than enough dis year. If its due to export demand then its worth celebrating we only need to be proactive and secure availabilty and earn more hard currency

Father Lord Nigerians commit their lives into your hands cos any trust in APC is akin to suicide.

My dear brother, please be reading well. Read the third paragraph especially. Nobody is saying there would be food shortage in Nigeria due to carelessness or ineffective policies of government on agriculture, but basically owing to very high demands of our products by other countries which may shorten our own ration if we yield to their requests accordingly. You have also read that we had a very bountiful harvest this year and we are a central point of attention to the whole world, food wise. Let us just try as much as possible to be reading between the lines before allowing sentiments to becloud our sensitivity while we react to issues. Thanks.

Agreed we had a good harvest which prompted high demand from other countries but it's the govt that ought to put in place measures to ensure we don't shortchange ourselves. And it needs to be proactively done asap to avoid famine 'cos farmers will majorly think of their ROI.

My main concern is how serious is the govt to tackle this matter 'cos January is around the corner and the earlier the better for us lest they'll start blaming past government as usual if it eventually happens(God forbid).

Anyway thanks bro.

... Audu Ogbe..... We are self sufficient in rice production
FG...... BY 2016 year end the govt had achieved maximum food security.
Audu Ogbe on 14th Nov, 2016....Nigeria will experience food famine by 2017.

Confusion and reverse policy in this govt is too much. Trial and error government.

It affected reserve. Plus the article clearly states that the anticipated famine is a result of global demand . . . and not Buhari
