2 Persons Died At Abduction Of Iba Town Traditional Ruler, Witness Tells Court

The third prosecution witness, Sergeant Ademo Rahim, in the ongoing trial of four men arraigned by the Lagos State government for the abduction of the traditional ruler of Iba Town, Oba Goriola Oseni, told the Lagos State High Court in Igbosere that two persons died during the incident.

Rahim, who is the investigating police officer in charge of the case, also told the court that in the course of his investigation, he discovered that the Security guard at ‎the Palace one Sunday Okanlawon was shot in the head, but that he could ascertain how the Motorcycle rider Joseph Okeke died.

The defendants in the case: Duba Furejo, Ododomo Isaiah, Reuben Anthony and Yerin Fresh were arraigned by the state government on an eight count charge of conspiracy, murder, attempted murder, robbery, armed robbery , felony and kidnapping.

The defendants, who allegedly carried out the crime on July 16, 2016 at the palace of the monarch, were said to have attempted to kill the monarch’s wife, Olori Abosede Oseni while making efforts to dispossess her of her property at gun point.
They pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The witness, while being led in evidence by the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Mrs Idowu Alakija claimed that two deceased persons were murdered by the defendants during the alleged kidnap of the Oba.

Rahim further informed the trial judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, that when he got to the scene of the crime he saw pool of blood at two different posts, one at the Palace entrance gate and the other at the Security post of the Palace.

He said that when he visited the crime scene the next day on July 17, 2016, the place was deserted as there was nobody to attend to him. ‎
The witness said he visited the crime scene after the Monarch’ son Kazeem Oseni reported a case of kidnap, murder and armed robbery, the DPO and the DCO assigned the case to him.

Rahim “Before I got there the deceased bodies had been taken to Badagry General Hospital Mortuary. It was the local police at Iba Town that removed the bodies and deposited it at the mortuary. He said.
