Political War Intensifies Between Aisha Buhari And Kaduna Mafia by Davidbee(m): 4:05pm On Nov 23, 2016
Weeks after the altercation between President Muhammadu Buhari and the First Lady, Aisha Buhari, sources close to the seat of power in Abuja have revealed to newsmen, the political decisions and appointments which reportedly angered the president’s wife.

The sources also say the political war between the First Lady and the acclaimed Kaduna Mafia which closely guard the President’s political moves may be entering a new stage.

Aisha Buhari it would be recalled had recently carpeted her husband publicly in a widely-circulated media interview, while he was away in Germany on an official assignment for allowing himself to be taken captive by a political cabal who did not work for his victory at the polls in 2015 but now enjoy perks of office.

She had further said that she, including many Nigerians would not work for the ruling party’s chances of retaining power in 2019 if it presents her husband as candidate.

Buhari who has since assumption of office curtailed the activities of the Office of First Lady quickly responded to his wife’s summation by saying her place was not in political matters but in the kitchen and the bedroom, a remark that had generated controversy globally.

The president’s wife had revealed the existence of a ‘power cabal’ which was enjoying where it did not sow asking the president to reward the people that actively worked for his victory.

Aisha Buhari, 45, who has been married to the president for over twenty-seven years, had hit at the president, warning of grave political consequences if her husband allowed the power cabal block him from Nigerians whom he swore to serve.

She told the BBC that almost eighty percent of those who are currently in her husband’s cabinet were unknown to him and were not card carrying members of the ruling party or voters who contributed to his victory.

She alluded to the fact that a cartel of political personalities led by a notable uncle of the president, Alhaji Mamman Daura were holding sway in the corridors of power.

Daura is not alone in the power game. The Chief of Staff to the President, Gen. Abba Kyari [rtd] and a few others around the president collectively decide for Buhari, Aisha had subtly alleged in her interview.

Not even the acclaimed national leader of the ruling party, the All Progressive Congress, (APC), and former Lagos governor, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the DG Buhari Campaign Organisation and current transportation minister, Hon. Rotimi Ameachi, party boss, Chief John Oyegun seem to know how decisions are arrived at in a party they all worked to install two years ago, the interview seemed to point out.

Who were Aisha Buhari referring to?

Recently Aljaziranews spoke with sources at the Presidential Villa who claim to know the specific appointments made by the President that did not go down well with his wife.

Also, an investigation carried out by the reporter in Abuja following the BBC report, further revealed that, the powerful Northern Mafia earlier nailed by ex- President Olusegun Obasanjo who also helped to frustrate the three-time effort of Buhari to clinch power has gradually surfaced in less than a year after he took over from President Goodluck Jonathan.

Alhaji Mamman Daura is the arrow head of the Kaduna Mafia. Not even the president’s wife can reach him once it is an official matter, it was learnt.

The powerful Northern Mafia has strategically planted their children in Buhari’s government even at the detriment of the real APC leaders like former vice president, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, APC leader, Ahmed Tinubu, Rotimi Amaechi, among others.

With Daura on board and in fact, in charge, the child of an ex-Budget and Planning Minister, Alhaji Abubakar Alhaji, Aisha Abubakar from Sokoto got appointed as minister against all odds.

From Adamawa state, Daura’s close ally, Alhaji Musa Bello had his son, Muhammad Bello picked as the minister of the Federal Capital Territory, (FCT) despite the presence of better candidates especially those who worked for APC at the last polls.

Muhammad until his plum job in FCT, was the chairman of the National Hajj Commission. As an appointee under the PDP government, he was noted to have contributed greatly to the return campaign of ex-president Jonathan and the PDP, a fact that Aisha considered as troubling.

Aljazirahnews learnt that Aisha Buhari’s anger also stemmed from the fact that the minister reportedly rejected her notes to appoint a few nominees from her in some FCT parastatals including Aso Radio, Abuja Geography Information System, (AGIS) when Muhammad recently reconstituted the two agencies.

Other Kaduna Mafia appointees that the First Lady was not comfortable with are the ministers of Water Resources, Alhaji Musa Suleiman, Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyema who is from Imo state but with close links with Mamman Daura.

Those Aisha Buhari believes can do the job but are side-lined

The First Lady it was learnt is unhappy that notable northerners believed to have worked tirelessly for the president like Dr. Yakubu Lame [Bauchi], Yusufu Tuga [Katsina], Dr. Hassan Lawal [Nasarawa], Alhaji Waziri Bulama {Borno], Hakeem Baba Bello [Kaduna], Ismail Ahmed [Kano], Alhaji Umaru Dembo [Sokoto] and Rev. Ken Madaki [Nasarawa] have been neglected.

Others excluded from political consideration include: Senator Mamora Olorunnibe [Lagos] Dele Alake [Ogun], Senator Magnus Abbe [Rivers] among others.

Also, juicy board appointments made by the President in recent months without the input of party leaders did not seem to go down well with the First Lady.

Of note is the recent appointment of a well-known ‘PDP’ man, Senator Victor Ndoma Egba to the board of the NDDC, and another Senator Ita Enang as presidential adviser to the National Assembly while dozens of APC stalwarts have been reportedly ignored.

The President’s media and political handlers however have consistently defended his choice of appointees noting that it was keeping in line with his campaign promises when he said he ‘belonged to everybody but belonged to no one.’

A few other Nigerians have equally advised the President’s wife to stay out of politicking and leave her husband to do the job as he deems fit.
