Sheanut farming is a fading investment in Nigeria. Existing plantations are going extinct and over 50 years old.

Sheanuts produce well in Savannah clime and starts producing 15 years after planting.

There are few researches going on, here in Nigeria and I haven't seen improved breeds but looking at Malaysia for support if possible.

I will update this thread shortly.

Very sure retirement plan...

Sheanut is only found in the tropics of west Africa. It fruits 15 years after planting and yields bountifully for the next 30 years and more. The sheanut has high content of irremovable fatty acid.

There is no known plantation in Nigeria currently. Foreign buyers demand at least 3,000 metric tonnes and they are mostly from the Netherlands in Europe. Local demands is high here in Nigeria.

15 years is just too long for one to go into it. What's the expected yield per tree or acre?

Just graft it then it will fruit faster, maybe in 2 or 3 years after grafting.

Which Nigerian will wait for 15 years today to harvest something from a tree?
