Please i have interest in planting cabbage and carrot on 2 acres of land. I searched through nairaland but can't find much on these two. Please how lucrative are they and are they well accepted in the market?

People should stop asking this question. It makes no sense anymore. No short cut to success than hard work. While some investment are better than others, what happens to having passion for what u do? If we all becomes cassava or plantain or palm farmers wat happens to other crops, pepper, onions, and so on. Do it right and it time will come. This is the reason everything is expensive in this Nigeria, we blame it on fuel and dollar, ad if those have anything to do with us directly. Prices of goods keep rising daily for no reason, despite the fact that ur should be reducing significantly with the way everyone is farming now. Naija which way? It seems we need government to come help us fix prices of goods in the market

What happens to "You dont test the depth of a water with both of your feet?" and who told you im searching for a short court? The topic itself show im willing to try something new, and what is wrong in me searching for people with experience to ask few questions? The yoruba's would say "Someone who asks for the direction of the road would not get lost". Ive made my research and im simply looking for people with practical experience that i can learn from. What is the big deal in that? Park well jare undecided

Oga, was i the one who used the word LUCRATIVE? You arent asking for experience but u asked how lucrative and that's ur motive. Alot of people are suffering out there now bcoz of this ur same motive, they will increase prices of their goods at any oppurtunity, people cant afford prices of goods in d market. Prices of pretrol have not changed for a while, so is transportation. But prices of crops keeps going up, i just pray, there will be enough farmers out there soon, who will realize life isn't 2. Doing business with some ethics at least

See jamb question. Why not go out there into the nearest vegetable market and price the two vegetables and see if they are lucrative or not, don't sit down in the comfort of your house and expect others to do the feasibility study for you when its a known fact you'll eat your money alone when you begin to hammer sef grin . Well, i'll advice you go research how much it is sold in the market, get a clue before venturing into growing them.

Remember we're in recession and one have to be careful how he or she invest the little money in hand. And also have questions such as these at the back of your mind; How much would i need for a start? Do i have the Agro-know-how or i'll simply employ a farmer to do the farm job for me for a pay? Are these two vegetables suitable for cultivation in my part of the country? What factors are my likely to face in the cause of growing them (disease and pest)? How and where do i sell them off after harvest?
Then look for solution to those problems...Gud luck jare.

Thanks, the word lucrative was not intended as it sounds. I understand what both said and corrections would be made.

Make Una take am easy o. Cabbage and Carrot are lucative. Firstly get a proper training to know: * the farming techniques, seed varieties, nutrient requirement for each crop, disease and pest control... Secondly study ur target market to know the price system, period of high demand... N u are good to go. Note every agrobiz/commercial farmer wants to maximize profit.

every good farmer wants to make profit that's where lucrative comes in, n every crop is lucrative but some are more lucrative than others. Passion and profitability works hand in hand in farm biz. If u have passion but u aren't making cash from it. Man, u will go out of biz n u will not have cash to pursue ur passion. Commercial farm biz is capital intensive.

Some vegetable farmers are nonchalant, or ignorant of cabbage farming, also some farmers have this mind set that cabbage farming is not quite too lucrative.

I tell you cabbage farming is very lucrative, especially now in dry season spell. Do you also know that cabbage has alot and impressive health benefit. Farmers from the west, east and south believes and have this mindset that vegetable grows and thrive more only in the northern part of Nigeria. My dear, its a typical lie, it has being discovered that it can be grown anywhere in Nigeria.

All you need do is call me or watsapp me to give you the right guide on
