I have come to notice some adverts about some cars here which are half the amount in the real world displayed here. Though of course none of them have testified of finding a buyer(like who will ).
Imagine a Benz e350 4matic 2008 going for N5.4m when u can get it in dealers shop for about 2.8- 3.5 depending on the specs..
There are some dealers here who do sell at the actual price though they do add roughly 300k to wink the original price.
I WILL NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO BUY OR TAKE THE PRICES SERIOUSLY BUT USE IT AS AN ESTIMATE WHEN GOING TO THE MARKET.
Ur Take

I think this should be move to front page.(like I care)

Nigerians and wahala, if someone puts up this prices you say the dealers gave you, you'll still keep coming here to price peanuts, of course it's the Internet and it's free

The point of nairaland/Internet adverts is to let you know there's a car at a certain place which you might not have known if not for the online broadcast, that someone puts a car for sale for 5m here doesn't mean you'll buy the car for 5m if you're serious.

Serious buyers don't stay online and throw tantrum, they call and go for physical inspection and in most cases buy the car if it's good at a reasonable price too, forget what you see being quoted here most times

That being said, you can easily spot the third party agents who overload all their problems on someone's car by the ridiculous amount of money usually tagged on their ads and avoid, for the more realistic ones, if you're serious then call, go for inspection and bargain

Nairalander/Nigerians too dey price and if I want to sell a car for say, 1m, I won't advertise it for 1m cos they'll keep pricing ridiculously as if it's a stolen car, I'll usually place it at say, 1.2m or so, if you're the pricing type, after all your pricing/bargaining skills, you'll still land at my preferred price of 1m, it's simple logic which we all practice in our daily lives, why will it be different on car sales

Stop saying Naija used is so and so price. Market and other forces determine naija used price. If a seller needs money at a particular time, and he has other cars, if you have the money at that time, count yourself lucky cos you might get a good bargain. We see this play out many times over here, especially for the not so high in demand cars.

Also tokunbo is a particular grade, but naija used has various grades depending on the previous owner. All these affect the pricing eventually.

You really don't have money to buy yourself a good car but you came here making unsubstantiated charges again dealers. You have no clue what the cost of vehicles and shipping from USA is at the moment. Dealers are struggling to make ends meet at the moment. Clearing cost has gone up by 30% in the last seven months as well. I buy vehicles and ship vehicles from the US everyday and I know what it is.

Help your quriousity by stopping by bureau de change and ask cost of exchange rate. It is $1 - 475 as at today.

Go and work hard more before thinking about buying a car instead of blaming dealers for what they have no control over.

I almost sold a Solara on Saturday with about 45,000 naira profit until I was asked not to sell it and wait for better deal and not rush to sell it.

Yes you are 2 million miles wrong. Now tell me how much RX350 was being sold for before the exchange rate skyrocketed. I emboldened your statement for a reason. It seems you know so much about buying, trucking and shipping from the U.S.

I've been trying to help someone buy this particular 08 RX350 with slight damage on it for the past three weeks at the cost of $6000 and up till today we have not been able to win one. If you dare go near dealership in the USA where they sell clean one, be prepared to pay around $13,000 - $15,000 for the same RX 350.

Now do the Maths by the time you add trucking to the port, shipping to Lagos and clearing.

I repeat you have no clue.

Why don't you shun the sellers on nairaland and buy from car dealers who sell cheap cars in your dream land?

I'm glad you know you are ignorant of car buying from USA. Yet you opened a thread about things you have no clue about.

Well, the advise you just gave is meant for you. Stop talking about things you have no clue about. It is glaring you want to buy a car but you can't afford what you think you want and trying to blame dealers for your lack of funds. People who have money to buy cars of their choice don't open thread. They go to the car dealership, choose what they want, negotiate and initiate payment.

You came here blaming dealers for your inability to buy yourself a good car.

Too bad.....

Trash. I didn't bad mouth you. You created a wailing thread and you deserved to be taught that such nonsense you posted here shouldn't go unchallenged.

Did you see me ask for clients here? People know me very well here and I don't need any advertisement to get clients.

You created a thread because you couldn't afford to buy a Lexus when you visited a dealership. Stop blaming car dealers. If your budget can only buy you a 1998 Toyota Corolla, why don't you go for that instead of trying to buy Lexus? Get a better job that can get you enough money to buy a Lexus.
