Arsenal midfielder Alex Iwobi has through a recent interview with the Guardian revealed his experience with fans in Nigeria.

Iwobi was born in Lagos in 1996 but had to move two England with his parents four years later. He joined the Arsenal academy at the age of six and has since progressed to the first team.

The 20-year-old made the decision to play for Nigeria when he was also eligible to play for England and according to him, the attitude of fans in the United Kingdom is far different from what he met in his native land.

He stated that while English fans are fond of demanding selfie shot and autographs, Nigerian supporters only ask for boots and money.

“Everyone appreciates you. You’re almost like a king!” he says.
“When I arrived at the airport I thought, I’ll just have my earphones in, but everyone was like ‘Iwobi! Iwobi!’ Oh gosh. Hi guys! I didn’t know what to expect. It was just mad.
"I always go with Kelechi Iheanacho. When we go we get escorted. Because I’m not used to the Nigerian culture as much as they are, they do help me with it. I can’t really speak the language that well.
"They help me with the fans. The fans are very different there. They don’t ask me for autographs, they ask for boots, money.”
I know this will make some of his Nigerian fans be like: "Shey him dey craze ni? Who him epp?" but what he said is the truth. Take it or leave it, Africans do not appreciate celebrity autographs as much as those in the Western world. They prefer money and other material things.

Funny enough na true him talk.. don't come here and start abusing him
