When the modern church puts more emphasis on building large auditoriums than saving souls..painful results

Sir, I disagree with that move. It is the founder who is to be arrested.

That building is under construction. The contractor has not delivered the job and so is not liable. The founder ought to have put forward the event or use alternative venue.

It is the vibration from crowd that ignite the collapse. The contractor should not be made the scapegoat.

Why is the Governor calling for the head of the contractor only. Is this the normal padi padi business as usual. And Nigerian police, do you have to wait for directions before you play your constitutional role?

ordered the arrest of the contractor of the collapsed
building.



A high-powered panel of inquiry to ascertain the immediate and
remote causes leading to the collapse of the building with a view
to forestalling the recurrence of such incident and bring to book
persons found to have compromised professional standards in
the construction of the building.


Governor Udom Emmanuel also has declared Sunday and
Monday two days of mourning for victims of the church building
collapse.




The 2-day mourning period will be rounded off with a Solemn
Assembly at the Banquet Hall of the Government House, Uyo on
Monday December 12, 2016 by 4.pm prompt.



The State Government will bear the medical cost of all those
injured as we have never had such a shocking incident in the
history of our dear state.



The Governor urges all citizens and friends of the state to continue
to pray for the speedy recovery of those injured in this incident.

Really? Where did you get this your beer parlor gist from? Madam Rose Joint or Happiness Relaxation Spot, Ibafo?

Why is the contractor being arrested?... and not the Pastor and the organisers of the event? Afterall.... the building was not completed.It seems that it was a must for this ceremony to take place.... didn't matter if the building was safe or not.... didn't matter that it collapsed and people were killed and many others were trapped and seriously injured in the rubble... the ordination had to take place. Hmmm..... contract with the Devil?

This is just terrible. It's a news like this that makes people believe that God doesn't exist

The governor is like thr proverbial man who when The house is burning instead of focusing on rescuing as many lives and properties as possible you're busy chasing the rats in the house

Wrong move from the governor. That building must have been given approval. Why not wield the big stick from there. The church pastor cannot also claim ignorance. I once heard a 'big man of God' in Nigeria give a testimony how his church was built and the roof collapsed. He said the contractor told him they need some reinforcement but he insisted that the roof be put back. It was put back and it fell. He insisted they put the roof back again and they did and since then, the roof has not fallen till date. I think many heads need to roll for this sort of atrocity.

I learnt the ordination still went on in another church even after the deadly mishap. If true, the entire church, it priest or pastor that was ordained, the senior priest or pastor that did the ordination, the church members present for the ordination should all be flogged mercilessly.

So I heard.
That is is the height of insensitivity on the part of Akan Weeks and the bishops that ordained him.

The first person to be arrested should be Akan Weeks, for he instructed that the temporary support of the trusses be removed.

Apostle Akan weeks survive though in the hospital receiving treatment and secondly the ordination did not hold at any other venue as the bishopric ordination was not done before the tragic event took place

Why arrest the contractor.
Obviously, the owner knew the place is yet to be completed but went ahead to hold service under it. Some persons can be very ridiculous sometimes, the owner may have pledge to himself that he must do his ordination or whatever in that new building. Somehow, he could get contribution from guest to complete the construction.
He then obstinately went ahead to use it risking people's lives.
