Following the way and manner nigerian universities grant first class degrees, am beginning to tink it is being diluted. A private University in nigeria recently granted about 200+ first class degrees to its graduands, and the figures of some public universities are just close to raising eyebrows. Some years back you could count the number of first class degrees in nigeria in a year from all universities. But recently that is not the case. Mind you am not against the fact that most of these graduates are actually deserving of it...but what are the chances that the standard of tertiary education has not been diluted...? is there a possible shift in the model of tertiary education that has perforated the educational system in nigeria?

Same thought,however you have to be balance there are modes of acquiring academic information that hitherto was restricted either because of exorbitant cost of study materials or non availability these days there are sites that provide premium college textbooks at no cost at all my suspicions is these first class guys have access to these sites and prepare well ahead,this is a well kept secret and only given to friends and family
