I don't understand what you mean by Pinzgauer being G-Wagon's papa. Steyr-Daimler-Püch is not under Benz.

Babangida bough lots of Pinzgauers for the armed forces and police c1986. The process of acquiring the Pinzgauers was actually started by the Shagari Government.

Part of the deal was that some vehicles would be built for the military at the Steyr plant in Bauchi.

The Pinzgauer, Landrover Series and 504 pickup trucks were the main troop carriers in the late 1980s.

Some of those Pinzgauers were sold in the mid 1990s and they were used as farm vehicles, etc. I won't be surprised if this is one of them.

Steyr manufactures the G-Wagon for Mercedes Benz.

Part of the deal that was brokered between Shagari's Government and Steyr (which included the purchase of Pinzgauers and production of Steyr vehicles in Bauchi) included the acquisition of Steyr-Puch G-Wagens for the Presidency.

There were lots of Steyr-Puch G-Wagons at Dodan Barracks and CVU between 1980-1990.

The G-Wagon is the forerunner of the G-Class.

I remember when I was still in primary school,my dad bought this same truck and boy oh boy there isn't any terrain this truck can't enter.we once took it to the bar beach and drove for miles by the beach I think we later busted out somewhere on Kellie epe expressway.
This truck has its own mini dining area,fridge, a bed in the back and lots more. It has so many auxiliary gears in fact the dashboard is like a mini ship with so many buttons.trust me this truck can do what so many Gwags and range rovers can't do easily. Maybe only a hummer V can stand it in terms of capabilities.

Ex Nigerian Army versions of this vehicle is one of only two vehicles used as the main workhorse for smugglers and other user up the harsh terrain of the Gembu mountain range in Taraba state (the 2nd vehicle is the Land Rover). The vehicle is truly rugged.
