Unbelievable Tokunbo Cars Spotted In Lagos (Shocking Photos) by autojosh: 3:16pm On Oct 16, 2018 |
Anytime we visit car lots, we are usually excited about how clean and sparkling the displayed cars are. Autojosh.com is here to tell you that "All that glitters is not gold". This badly damaged Toyota Corolla was spotted at the port some weeks ago. It will be refurbished and sold to an unsuspecting Nigerian who would think they've gotten an excellent deal. You can also see the accident ridden Lexus RX350 and Mercedes-Benz GLK that we spotted in the photos below. This is one of the reasons we've always warned about how well you know the car you are buying, because what you see may not be what you get. This is why the importance of VIN checks can never be overemphasized. Before you buy a car, make sure you read about some of the things car sellers don't want you to know HERE If you were given access to peep into what goes on behind the scene, your jaw will drop and your mouth will be left wide opened like that of Jim Carrey "The Mask" Do you carry out thorough checks on any car you want to buy or do you just go ahead with what ever you've been told by the seller? Tell us in the comment section below. https://autojosh.com/see-shocking-photos-of-tokunbo-cars 13 Likes 3 Shares |

Great topic. An earlier topic by the famous Explorers revealed the same situation on the forum https://www.nairaland.com/4378034/shocking-transformation-some-crashed-cars CarGuideNG always encourages clients to get a VIN report, and have any vehicles inspected by an expert before purchase. We go a step further, to provide detailed photos of the original damage to the vehicle prior to import to Nigeria, with detailed history reports and airbag/auction information. A premium history report from us for the above vehicles would include pictures revealing the extent of the damage, and much more. We also provide history for vehicles from multiple geographical regions including but not limited to Canada, the USA, parts of Europe, and the Middle East There are 2 aspects to consider when purchasing a Tokunbo vehicle: - History: Best assessed by VIN checks and Vehicle History Reports. - Present condition: Best assessed by expert and thorough physical inspection. The history is just as important as the present condition, and one should not be done without the other. They work hand-in-hand to create a complete picture of the state of a vehicle. When a CarFax report states that a vehicle was routinely serviced and lists the consecutive dates of oil change, brake service, transmission repairs or work, airbag repair or work, suspension service or repairs, or that some electrical service or repairs were performed, that clearly contributes a great deal to the present state of the car. VIN reports have been commonplace since the 1990s in the USA and Canada, where most vehicles are imported to Nigeria from. Today no smart used car buyer would buy a car without a VIN or history report in the USA or Canada, even most dealers already have the reports at hand for any prospective customers, hence the popular jingle "Show me the CarFax!". Relying on just the VIN or just the inspection alone would likely lead to an incomplete impression of the state of the vehicle. Consider A buyer looking for a vehicle contacts dealers who have about 5 models of the vehicle in their stock. A The dealers send the VIN for all 5 vehicles to the buyer who runs VIN checks and does some research for all 5 using the VIN, before visiting the dealers premises to see the vehicles and arrange inspection for 2 or 3 based on the information available from the VIN reports. B The buyer spends more time, money and logistics to arrange inspections with no VIN report beforehand for all the vehicles, which has to be done for all of them to decide which vehicles are in the best condition. A would definitely be less expensive, more effective and lead to the client purchasing a vehicle in better condition. Consider again The VIN check reveals that 1 of the vehicles was flood damaged, 2 were in accidents involving the airbags, while 2 were clean titles with fair mileage and no other negative history. Instead of the client to pay an expert for inspection for 5 vehicles, he may pay for just 2 or 3, based on the VIN reports. It's not a 100% approach, but it is much more likely to lead to a good purchase. For a flood damaged vehicle, which even some "expert" inspection may not detect, a good way to establish that would be a VIN report. In some situations it may not be possible to get a VIN check for a car, for example cars from some parts of the world. In such cases the buyer has no option but to rely on the inspection alone. To conclude, both approaches are necessary to achieve the aim of making a good vehicle purchase, and a VIN report before inspection increases the effectiveness of the inspection. 32 Likes 7 Shares |
