OPENING REMARK:
Praise the Lord! I welcome you back from Ikorodu Crusade, the Mother and Queen of all Global Crusades in Jesus name. I praise the Lord for your faithfulness, industry and service to the Lord. We thank God for all participants who came with one need or the other and the way the Lord met their needs, we pray that the blessings will be permanent in Jesus name.
The follow-up begins today and by the grace of God, everyone of us will be up and doing in Jesus name. Already, we have heard the announcement that at the headquarters church and the Crusade location headquarters, there will be rallies today to follow up the people, I pray that the Lord will give you the grace to do all that is necessary to follow them up in Jesus name, and you will labour to keep them. As you do this, the blessings of God multiply in your life in Jesus name.

TOPIC: THE INTERPRETER OF DIVINE REVELATION
TEXT: GENESIS 40:5,8; 41:12-16,25,32,38-44; 2 PETER 1:20-22
Genesis 40:5,8
• 5 And they dreamed a dream both of them, each man his dream in one night, each man according to the interpretation of his dream, the butler and the baker of the king of Egypt, which were bound in the prison.
• 8 And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you.

• 12 And there was there with us a young man, an Hebrew, servant to the captain of the guard; and we told him, and he interpreted to us our dreams; to each man according to his dream he did interpret.
• 13 And it came to pass, as he interpreted to us, so it was; me he restored unto mine office, and him he hanged.
• 14 Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him hastily out of the dungeon: and he shaved himself, and changed his raiment, and came in unto Pharaoh.
• 15 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I have dreamed a dream, and there is none that can interpret it: and I have heard say of thee, that thou canst understand a dream to interpret it.
• 16 And Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, It is not in me: God shall give Pharaoh an answer of peace.

• 39 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, Forasmuch as God hath shewed thee all this, there is none so discreet and wise as thou art:
• 40 Thou shalt be over my house, and according unto thy word shall all my people be ruled: only in the throne will I be greater than thou.
• 41 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, See, I have set thee over all the land of Egypt.
• 42 And Pharaoh took off his ring from his hand, and put it upon Joseph's hand, and arrayed him in vestures of fine linen, and put a gold chain about his neck;
• 43 And he made him to ride in the second chariot which he had; and they cried before him, Bow the knee: and he made him ruler over all the land of Egypt.
• 44 And Pharaoh said unto Joseph, I am Pharaoh, and without thee shall no man lift up his hand or foot in all the land of Egypt.
2 Peter 1:20-21
• 20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
• 21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

INTRODUCTION:
We are coming to the reading, learning and applying the word of God today.

Genesis 40:5,8. Joseph himself was a dreamer, he didn't look for interpretation for them because he already knew it. His brothers and father also knew it. Now, the king's butler and baker had dreams according to their destinies and were looking for an interpreter, and Joseph was available to interpret for them.

Does God give dreams like that today? Yes, He does. Did He give dreams in the New Testament? Yes, He did.
DREAMS IN THE NEW TESTAMENT

When Mary was to have Jesus, Joseph had a dream in which he was cleared about Mary's pregnancy as coming from the Holy Ghost, and he acted on the instructions he received in the dream in the next verse.

In chapter 2 of Matthew, Joseph had another dream about how Herod would seek to harm baby Jesus and he was told what to do. He carried Mary and the child to Egypt in fulfilment of the word of God. Immediately Herod died, God showed him in a dream and he brought the Lord back home.

The Lord Jesus was being tried and Pilate was the judge and his wife sent a message to him never to have anything to do with the trial of the just man because she suffered many things in the dream earlier in the night.

On the day of Pentecost when the Holy Ghost came down, the words of God said that in the last days, He would pour out His Spirit upon all flesh and the young men shall see visions and prophesy and the old men shall dream dreams. This is also in the New Testament.

In Acts 18, the Lord appeared to Apostle Paul in the night visions (dreams) and assured him to fear not because no one will be able to hurt him. In ch 27, they were in the ship, and the Lord appeared to him in a dream, giving him assurance of safety along with all who were with him in the ship.

God uses dreams, not only for the heathen, but also for His children: Joseph in the Old Testament, Joseph in the New Testament, Paul the Apostle and others who received revelations from the Lord.

Now, when God gives us dreams, we have the privilege to compare them with the Bible, an opportunity not available to Joseph in his time, when Genesis was not yet written. So you see these people looking for interpretation because they had no Scriptures to compare their dreams with.

We have seen that the king's butler and baker had their dreams the same night and because they didn't have the interpretations, they were perplexed. Joseph interpreted their dreams which came to pass as he said.

Joseph was called by Pharaoh and he shaved and changed his clothes before appearing before him. How many people appear today in the presence of the King of kings and fail to present themselves in an acceptable manner, clean and pure within as well as without. Joseph knew that, I pray that God will help us to do the right thing by appearing before God clean in spirit, soul and body in Jesus name.

Pharaoh told Joseph that he had some dreams which no man could interpret but Joseph told him that to interpret dreams was not in his hands, but by the wisdom, enablement of the Spirit of God. He said by the dreams, God had shown Pharaoh what He was about to do, and that they came twice to show that they were established by God and would happen shortly.

As we look at these two chapters today, we are considering the message titled THE INTERPRETER OF DIVINE REVELATION. God has shown Pharaoh in a dream what He was about to do and has given the interpretation through the interpreter of divine revelation. We are looking at three things in this message:

OPENING REMARK: I welcome everyone to our service today in Jesus name, and I pray that our new comers, new converts and old timers will have everything the Lord is sending to us in Jesus name, that the word of God will not become common, stale and ordinary in any life but the word, with the personal application to you will be fresh, new and uplifting to you in Jesus name. I'm so glad to see you here and God bless you abundantly in Jesus name.

TOPIC: PROGRESSING TOWARDS A PROPHESIED FUTURE THROUGH A PREDICTED FAMINE
TEXT: GENESIS 45:5-11; MARK 13:8,10,23,31,34-37
INTRODUCTION:
We've been learning about Joseph and his brothers, as well Jacob their father. But more than this, we want to pay attention to what our Lord and Saviour Jesus would have us know as a result of what we have read in the Old Testament.

Genesis 45:5. Joseph said God sent him ahead to Egypt to preserve lives. Here you see what men do in oppressing and tormenting anyone, and how the God of heaven and creation over-rules that and uses what men do to make His mark and fulfill His will. Joseph's brothers sold him but God sent him.

We are coming to today's message which is titled PROGRESSING TOWARDS A PROPHESIED FUTURE THROUGH A PREDICTED FAMINE. We see Joseph making progress towards the destined future in spite of the difficulty he went through.

Our Lord Jesus Christ predicted that in the last days, there shall be famine in different places. So, we learn from Joseph that in spite of famine, we should proceed to our destined future. We should not say because there is famine, earthquake, and other troubles, we abandon God or worshiping Him, or that we cannot make progress because we are going difficult times.

Famine, pandemic, epidemic, troubles and difficulties may be there, yet, in the midst of them, the gospel must be published in all nations, we must move forward in our relationship with God. Joseph made progress towards the destiny earmarked for him. This is what we must take note of, and work towards in our lives. We keep on moving towered the direction God has ordained for us.

At such a time of famine and difficulty, watch against discouragement, despair, distress, stress or depression, derailment, distractions of the world and what they are saying. Watch and make sure that you stay in the center of the will of God. What I say to you, I say to all: WATCH!
There are three things we are looking at in today's message:

A. RESPONDING TO THE PREDICTED FAMINE IN THE WORLD
You have to respond, react and take a stand. We need to know where you stand, what you want to do, and where your focus is even though there is famine.

1. PROPER ATTITUDE TOWARDS A PREVAILING FAMINE
(Genesis 42:1-2; 41:30,31,57; 47:15-20; Philippians 3:8-11)

Jacob saw and heard about food in Egypt. In the time of famine, we must keep our eyes open, not everyone is hungry, famished or going to bed hungry. There is a place where God has made provision for the famine. Hear and see so you can rise up and do the right thing. If you don't have a job, don't sit down in one place and complain, open your eyes and see what you can do to be gainfully employed and the Lord will bless you.

Joseph told Pharaoh that there will be famine in seven long years in which the previous fruitfulness will be forgotten. This information helped Pharaoh and Joseph to plan for the grievous years of famine. Plan towards the time of adversity and famine which may come in your future when things are going well with you. Don't relax and eat up everything you have. Save for the rainy days. Do exactly what they did in Egypt according to the counsel of Joseph. Save when you have surplus, don't go on a spending spree.

Joseph was very wise to have been able to preserve the corn to the extent that even after several years, it was still fresh and edible all through the years of famine. In the time of surplus harvests, a percentage of the crops were preserved for the time of famine. In that time of very early history, Joseph had the wisdom to preserve all the corn intact from pest and rodents.

Do you do this? Do you save some of your income? Save part of your income in a very good bank or financial institution even though the interest rate might be low now due to economic challenges. At the time of scarcity, recession and famine you will have something to use as a buffer.

Remember that Jesus told the disciples after feeding over 5,000 people at one time and over 4,000 people at other time that the remnants must be kept so that nothing perished. Don't waste food and resources, keep leftovers for use afterwards. You might be full today, yet, ensure that you keep and save all excesses for the days of famine which may come in the future. May God give us wisdom.

2. PRACTICAL ACTIVITIES DURING THE PRESENT FAMINE
(Genesis 42:5; 43:1-2; Amos 8:11-12; Proverbs 23:23,26)

Apart from the children of Jacob, all other people from other countries also found out that there was food in Egypt and went there to buy. They were not part of the children of Israel but they used their common sense to find out where they could get food. If unbelievers used their sense, believers must also use their common sense. The fact that we are children of Abraham does not mean that we cannot use our senses.
"The famine was sore in the land..."

When this happens, people feel hungry, they feel real biting hunger. Some people's eyes are closed and they can't do anything when they are hungry, they will not hear and see anything, they cannot get up and do anything.

This is not right, in famine and difficult times, let your common sense come alive more than ever, and think of what to do. After exhausting the food bought, Jacob encouraged his sons to go back and buy more food. They went back despite the fact that the man over there spoke roughly to them during their first visit. There are things which happen in life and we have to overlook inconveniences and minor things people do or say to us. Don't focus on how people talk to you roughly, overlook that and pay more attention to the food you will get and the survival you and your family will have. You need to be alive to have the fulfilment of your calling and purpose, hence, you have to forget and go again.
I remembered yesterday in particular about 1951, when I was in school and the teachers drilled me and the rest of us so much in the different subjects. I didn't like this, especially how they treated me in particular, so I decided not to go to school again. That day, I went back home, not knowing that my dutiful father did not go to work as usual. I was surprised to see him at home.

He asked me why I came home and I told him that we were told to go and bring money for harvest. He asked me how much, I told him and he took the amount, put it in his pocket and said we should go back to school together. On getting there, my father met the headmaster, and told him I came home, and the headmaster responded that he had wanted to contact my father to report to him that I've not been coming to school.

So my father, very militant and a disciplinarian to the core told the headmaster to get all the pupils together in the assembly hall and the head-boy was told to back me and my father personally whipped me in front of all the school. It was painful and I felt very ashamed. The following day, my father told me to go to school and warned me that if I didn't stay, he would deal with me again.

I became bold and told him I was no longer going to school because of what he did to me the previous day. He asked me what I wanted to do and I said farming, so he gave me a cutlass and I went to the farm. He didn't discourage me not to go. I got to the farm and cut off all the cocoyams and other things there. I did the same thing the following day.

That was when my father realized that my future would be endangered, so before the following term started, he called and sat me down and said he did not have education, but wanted me to have it. He said this was why he did what he did and for the first time, he apologized and said he was sorry. So, I said okay and went back to school.

If I didn't go back to school, and said my father whipped and disgraced me in front of everybody,
• I won't be where I am today,
• I would not have gone to secondary school,
• I would not have gone to the university,
• I would not have made a 1st class in Mathematics,
• I would not have established Deeper Life Bible Church.

Go back to the school, go back to your family, go back to your home, don't say you can never go back because of what happened.
NEVER SAY NEVER
A great future is before you, swallow your pride, and think about your future.

3. PERSONAL ASSURANCE DESPITE PLURAL FAMINES
(2 Chronicles 6:26-28; 7:13-14; Joel 2:12-13,25-29; Philippians 4:6-9,19)
There are famines of different sizes, shapes and types. There is famine of food, famine of the word of God and satisfaction in life which causes sorrow in life and family. When this happens, first of all find out why it is so. Then find out how the problem can be solved. Don't continue to do the same things over and over that will not generate solutions.

Work on how your dry and sour relationship with your boss can be mended. When and how it started and how it can be sorted out.
If there is a famine of love and fellowship in the family, and the father is not happy, the mother is sad, and the children are not happy seeing all that is going on, don't allow it to continue, sit down and talk about it and let the joy and peace of God be restored.

When there is famine of the word of God in the local church, and there is no life in the messages being preached, and the people only come just to fulfill all righteousness because they have nowhere else to go, there should be a way to solve the problem and not allow it to fester.
2 Chronicle 7:13-14. All these problems listed above and more happen when sin has been allowed to come in. When there is famine, scarcity, recession, poverty, and suffering, we need to be taught the way of the Lord. Don't say God is a miracle-worker and will make a change. When things are out of shape in the family, and there is indulgence in sin, don't go on and pretend that all is well, seek the face of God and endeavour to make amends before Him and your family members.

At times, famine comes from God, the Almighty, the One who is higher than the highest, and not the devil, therefore, there is the need to seek His face. When there is vacancy of a job somewhere, some people who are jobless will pretend that there is no problem, and turn down offers from people who would have helped them.

Pride manifests in the lives of some people. They will make up their minds not to make necessary consultations with their leaders in the church or anyone around who can help them, they will also forbid their wives from asking for help, and threaten that the marriage will be over if they do so. According to them, they want to keep their dignity. When you turn around and seek the face of God, He will hear from heaven and send rains of provision and restoration.

B. RECOGNIZING OUR PAINFUL FORGETFULNESS OF THE WORD
There are two things here: recognizing the painful forgetfulness of the word you have heard, the word of His promise and prophecy when you have difficulty and challenges. When we have troubles and difficulties, there is the danger of forgetting God's word. We must not forget the word of God but remember our faults. Our attending services is to reconnect to God and recollect what we have forgotten in His word which we must do something about.

Do you ever remember your faults before God? Do you ever think back to when everything was right and fresh between you and God? When you read the Bible and received illumination and direction? Do you ever remember your fault that made everything go wrong?

In your place of work, you were first loved and cherished by your boss, but afterwards, familiarity set in, breeding contempt till your boss felt you were overriding him. When you did something wrong, and you were summoned to the disciplinary committee, and were queried, you looked at them eyeball to eyeball and told them off, and you lost your job. You must come to a point where you will say that remember your faults.

In the district church, you were used by the Lord and people were blessed and then you got carried away, took God for granted and began to behave badly and oppress members under you. When you were summoned by the pastor, you refused to appear, claiming that you don't recognize him because you came to church before him, that only GS can summon you successfully. That is pride, and your life became dry and you no longer have sweet fellowship with God, and everybody abandoned and left you. You are now by yourself and going through famine all-around. You need to remember, take note, turn around and make amends. Otherwise, things will continue to deteriorate, and you will continue going down and down. I pray that the Lord will reverse that situation in your life in Jesus name name.

Genesis 41:9. Not only the butler remembered his fault, even Jacob remembered his faults. He said he had not attained the years of his fathers, (Abraham died at the age of 175, while Isaac died at the age of 180) but went through a lot of suffering and difficulties. He had different faults which resulted into this situation because of the coats of many colours which he bought for just one of his children among others, thereby generating avoidable enmity and rivalry in his family.

Besides this, Jacob knew that Joseph's brothers hated him, yet, he sent him alone to them. He also forgot all the promises of God for him. These are some of the things he must remember.

The brothers of Joseph also remembered their faults. Joseph accused them of being spies, and they denied and told him about themselves. He told them to send one of them to go and bring their younger brother while he delayed and locked them in prison for 3 days. They must remember how they threw him in the pit without food and water.

On the third day, he brought them out, and said that he feared God but commanded them to go and bring their younger brother. He held Simeon because he was the one who told them to sell him. Judah also had his own fault because he was the one who told them to make money out of selling him. He must also remember. They were saying among themselves (not knowing he was Joseph) how Joseph pleaded with them in anguish and they didn't listen. They remembered their faults.

For us to come out of darkness into the light, out of the dis-favour of God into the limelight of divine favour, we must remember our faults this day. Like some churches do, they sweep many things under the rug, and it is already bulging and everyone just move on as if nothing is wrong. They will say praise the Lord, hallelujah, but they never remember their faults. Some couples, even members of our church are on the verge on divorce, and they go to and fro church, hear the word of God, pray and come back home without making any changes. Everyone need to remember.

1. REMEMBER TO RENOUNCE AND RECTIFY FAULTS
(Genesis 41:9-14; 42:21-23; Psalms 19:12-14; Romans 2:15-16)

It is good to remember our faults and also rectify and renounce them. Present yourself before God. Acknowledge your faults in the family, place of work, loss of relationships with friends, your In-laws don't want to see your face, with your spouse, etc. After remembering your faults, pray for forgiveness after confessing to God and the person you offended.

Romans 2:15. Don't say you don't know how things went out of hand. Think about everything carefully, and make your ways right with God and all.

2. REMEMBER TO REPENT AND RETURN FULLY
(Genesis 42:27-28,35; 43:12,19-22; Acts 24:16; Luke 19:8-10)
After remembering your faults you have to return fully to the Lord. My brother and sister, you cannot prosper in isolation, you need that brother, sister, friend, co-workers, etc. by your side. God will not come down and but He uses what you are familiar with to communicate with you, even in dreams. He used what Joseph, Pharaoh, butler and baker, even Nebuchadnezzer, etc. were familiar with to communicate with them in dreams.

In your friendships, it is like people move away from you after a while, some people who used to open up to you have abandoned you, and there is a famine of fellowship, sit down and take stock of your attitude towards all around you and make amends. You are still young and have many years ahead of you. Although you are promoted, you are now alone, all by yourself, and the years ahead still have a lot to offer you. Brighter, better and joyful days are coming.

Some people forget to show appreciation for good deeds done to them, they forget to smile, they pile up all their challenges on their heads, with everything pressing on them. Wear a smile, give back to the world. Don't bear grudges, or indulge in blaming, criticisms, suspicion, bitterness, unforgiving spirit, anger, jealousy, vengeful spirit, otherwise, when you are just 40, you will look like an 80year old.

Learn from Joseph, despite all he went through, he was a free, lively and resourceful young man. You are still young and have many years more to live, don't become a recluse, all closed up and locked up from everyone, and when you are promoted, you are just in the ivory tower all alone, locked away from all other people. Make amends today, make your ways right with God and men.

3. REMEMBER TO REJOICE OR REGRET FOREVER
(Luke 23:39-43; 16:22-26; Hebrews 10:22,26-27; 1 Timothy 1:5-6,19)
The thief on the right hand of the Lord chose to speak right and asked Him for mercy and he got last minute pardon and admittance into Paradise at that instance. But the thief on the left hand did not seize the opportunity to make his ways right, even after his colleague had been pardoned. He kept quiet and perished.

The rich man spent his life in enjoyment without the knowledge of God, whereas, Lazarus, a poor beggar spent his life in suffering, but at death, he was carried to father Abraham's bossom while the rich man found himself in hell-fire.

The world is divided into two, every community, local church and denominations are divided into two, some will rejoice while others will regret forever in eternity. The beggar did not allow his situation and poverty to disconnect and affect his relationship with God and at the end, he was comforted, and rejoicing forever, while the rich man who didn't have time for God and allowed his riches to stand between him and God was eternally separated from Him, and regretting forever.

This is where we stand. You make your choice and believe in the Lord and choose to rejoice forever. As you do this, the joy of salvation will be yours forever.

1. PROFITABLE OBEDIENCE TO THE EARTHLY FATHER
(Genesis 42:1-3; 43:2,11-13; Ephesians 6:1-3; Jeremiah 35:18-19)
Genesis 42:1-3

• 1 Now when Jacob saw that there was corn in Egypt, Jacob said unto his sons, Why do ye look one upon another?
• 2 And he said, Behold, I have heard that there is corn in Egypt: get you down thither, and buy for us from thence; that we may live, and not die.
• 3 And Joseph's ten brethren went down to buy corn in Egypt.

When Jacob saw that there was food in Egypt, he called his sons and told them to go to Egypt. At this time, he was around 130, and his sons around 50, 60, 70, yet, they obeyed and went promptly. There are so-called believers today who don't listen to or obey their parents. They look at their own ages, and don't consider the older ages of their parents, and tell them to stop ordering them around.

Some children say their mother's time has passed, and she cannot talk to them as if they are still young children. When she says this is the way to go, they say she should not continue such line of communication because they are smarter and more wise. This has no support from Scriptures because Jacob at age 130 commanded his adult children and they went promptly.
Ephesians 6:1-3

• 1 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
• 2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise
• 3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

The express command is that children should obey and honour their parents in the Lord. Respect and honour go beyond just kneeling down and prostrating in greeting, real honour towards parents grows from obeying their words as long as they do not request for anything outside the will of God.

This also applies to Christendom. Obey and honour your spiritual parents, pastors, leaders, and the GS, your father in the Lord. Honour to your leaders go beyond praying for them in their presence, that is good, but promptly obeying and following the word of God and instructions from their mouths is the ultimate honour.

You will live long in the earth a purposeful and productive life in Jesus name, but don't stand in your own way, those who don't prosper or do well are those who stand in the way of rebellion and disobedience. Your head and brain will not stand in the way of your success in Jesus name.

2. PLAIN OBEDIENCE TO THE HONOURED FATHER
(Genesis 45:3,7,9-11,27-28; Malachi 1:6; 2 Corinthians 10:5-6; 1 Peter 1:13-16)
Whatever position you attain in life, remember your parents who nursed and succoured you from the cradle. Your parents who bathed, clothed and changed your diapers. Remember your father and mother, honour, respect and obey the ones who clothed, bathed, and backed you. Where do your parents live? How comfortable are they, how are they feeding and faring compared to your own situation?

Joseph prepared for the happy ending of his father, and situated him and other family members in Goshen, the best part of Egypt. Do this for your parents. Take care of your parents, show affection to them, nurture them, let them live the latter part of their lives in joy and peace.
When Joseph and his father finally met, they fell on each other's neck and wept a long time. Have affection for mummy and daddy. Don't claim to be born again and you are detached from them. Be tender-hearted towards them, be obedient children, have sensitive hearts and nature of our heavenly Father. He is holy and we must also be holy.

3. PROMPT OBEDIENCE TO THE HEAVENLY FATHER
(Genesis 46:1-7; Psalm 119:60,63; 1 Samuel 15:24-26; Romans 6:16-18)
When the Lord speaks to you is the time to rise up and obey, otherwise, you will be piling up message upon message, hearing and hearing, and they will not do anything in your life. Whatever is missing you ensure you seek and get when the message is fresh. If you are saved, and not sanctified, you go ahead and pray for it so that your life can be what it ought to be.

When there is a famine of fellowship in the family, there must be an adjustment from the husband and the wife, there must be prompt correction between the couple. The wife must not neglect the husband while claiming to be reading the Bible and praying and turn the husband to a forced bachelor.

The husband must not be busy reading newspapers, glued to the computer and your life is taken away from your wife and there is no intimacy. There is famine in the house and in the land. Immediately you hear the word of God, take time to pray, repent and make amends so that the evil birds do not pick them up and you forget everything.

Heaven will open up upon your life, The rain of refreshing, Revival and renewal will fall upon you, your family, work, and all you put your hands unto in Jesus name. You will leave the land of famine, and dwell in the land of plenty.

I invite you this morning, come, come, come to the Lord today and begin afresh. Everywhere you turn, refreshing and Revival will be your portion in Jesus name. Pray down the Revival of God into your life, open your mouth and pray like never before.

SATISFYING THIRSTY SOULS IN A DRY LAND
TEXT: PSALM 42:1-2,4-6,8,11

• 1 (To the chief Musician, Maschil, for the sons of Korah.) As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.
• 2 My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?
• 4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday.
• 5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.
• 6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.
• 8 Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer unto the God of my life.
• 11 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
INTRODUCTION:
vs 1-2. Here the psalmist is saying to the Lord that as the hart pants after the water brook, so he is panting after Him. He wanted something from God, something spiritual, something physical. He desired wisdom, knowledge and understanding to rule the nation. Although he had the things of the world, the place, position and properties, yet, he desired something the world could offer.
Psalm 61:1-2. The cry of the psalmist is not a silent one, but a loud one to God. Some keep their desires in their hearts, only meditating on them, not so with the psalmist. From the ends of the earth, from any part of the world he was, he poured out his heart to the Lord, begging Him to lead him to the rock that is higher than him.
ch 63:1. Despite all the duties, the responsibilities ahead of him on a daily basis, David still took time to seek God. He was seeking God not for the physical reasons only, but for spiritual purpose.
The heart cry of the righteous:
Early in my life, profession, and ministry will I seek Thee. My heart, flesh longs after you. I want to see more of you, your power and glory.
ch 84:2-7. David desired the living God. We serve a living God, not a dead God. Though we can worship God on our own, yet, we desire to be in His presence because there are some things we get in His presence we cannot get elsewhere. Whatever we learn in the house of God we still remember when we get to our offices, and places of businesses. We praise God everywhere, as if we are still in His house.
Those who seek God, who put their requests before God grow from strength to strength.
A. THE PANTING AND THE PASSION OF A THIRSTY SOUL. Psalm 42:1-2
Here we see the expression of a soul panting after God.
How do we know a hart panting after the waters?
1. By going in the direction of the water brooks, not up a tree, or towards the desert
2. Because it is not going sluggishly but running towards the water
3. By staying and drinking the water to the full.
A thirsting soul
1. Will go towards the direction where he can find the word, will, way, grace, power and satisfaction of God
2. He goes early and promptly to the presence of God, He will not be sluggish or lethargic
3. He stays, patient, rests there, seeking the Lord, wanting more of the Lord. His heart and life is there. Whatever he has, he wants more. He wants to get to heaven when he dies.
Psalm 143:6-8. As you look at your life, and what other people seek after: money, position, wealth, landed and other properties, and other things that can make their lives comfortable, you see that they are not satisfied or fulfilled by these things. But as for you, you long for fellowship and intimacy with God because He is the only one who knows the destiny which He has planned for us. We mortals do not know the way wherein we should walk, so we lift our souls to God.
Isaiah 44:3-5. God Himself desires to pour waters of refreshing, revival and blessings upon us. (ch 55:1) All that thirst are being invited to the waters of life (vs 12) we shall have peace that passes all understanding, we shall rejoice. Amen.
ch 48:18. Our peace shall be multiplied, and our righteousness as the waves of the sea (vs 21; 41:17-20).
Matthew 5:6. The righteousness will overflow, but it takes thirsting and panting after it. Righteousness at home, in the house of God, in our places of work and business, everywhere.
John7:37-39. When we are really thirsty, we go to the Lord in prayer. And our souls and spirits will be revived. Our bodies will be healed in cases of sicknesses.
Acts 2:33
Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear.
Revelation 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
Revelation 22:17
And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
B. THE PRAYER AND THE PRAISE OF A TRUSTING SOUL. Psalm 42:4-5,8
You cannot fill any container without opening the lid. If you decide to not open your mouth to pray, you will not get anything. Some people do not know that the house of God is a house of prayer. The day of the Lord is a holy day meant for worshiping and putting our requests before God. It is not a day to go to beaches on picnics or any other worldly pursuits.
Psalm 62:8. When there are challenges, when things are not going the way we want, as we pour out our hearts to God in prayer, we will not be denied.
ch 46:1-5
- 1 (To the chief Musician for the sons of Korah, A Song upon Alamoth.) God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
- 2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;
Some people are afraid of the situation of the country, of the economy, etc. We shall not be afraid.
- 3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.
- 4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.
- 5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.
God will not be late on our case as we seek His face in Jesus name.
2 Chronicles 20:3,12. Jehoshaphat was initially afraid, but afterwards, he sought the face of the Lord. Messages of encouragement came to him. (vs 20-24) Problems, challenges, sorrow will not take songs of praise out of our mouths. Amen. Our enemies will help to destroy themselves and none of them shall escape. Amen.
Psalm 40:3-5
- 3 And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
What God will do in our lives, and in the lives of our family members, many shall hear them and trust in the Lord.
- 4 Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.
- 5 Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.
The goodness, wonderful works of God in us will not be countable. Amen. Isaiah 50:10
Romans 4:18-21. Abraham believed God. He hoped against hope. He was fully persuaded that what God has promised, He was able to perform. He eventually had the promise.
Acts 16:25-26. When we praise the Lord in adversity, SUDDENLY, our problems vanished away, the joy came, our burdens rolled away, our bodies are healed, the oppression vanishes away, the demonic powers are broken, the long awaited jobs come, SUDDENLY! Thank God, today is the day. Amen!
C. THE PRIORITY AND THE PURSUIT OF A TRANSFORMED SOUL. Psalm 42:6,11;
My brother and sister, hope in God! Those problems you see today, you will see them no more!
Psalms 42:11. Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.
Matthew 6:31-33. Seek first the kingdom of God, and all other things shall be added unto you. Let seeking God be your priority.
Romans 8:32. God who did not spare His Son Jesus Christ, but gave Him to us will also freely give us all things.
3 John 2
- Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
- You will prosper in everything you do. Your health will come back to the optimum in Jesus name. Your soul will prosper in Jesus. As you seek the Lord, you will find Him. Your soul should not be cast down or weary. You should not be tired, and think there is no hope. Nothing is over, you are starting afresh. New strength, power, courage, blessing, healing in your body, strength in your soul, power in your spirit, prosperity in your job, and the work of God will prosper in your hands in Jesus name. Amen.
Prayer:
- Pray for grace to seek God more, and that, as you seek God, you will see Him.
- Pray that your strength will be renewed on a daily basis
- Pray that God will bless and renew the spiritual and physical energy of our father in the Lord.

I remember seeing this thread at some point in this section a few years ago and was like "hmmmmm..."
Honestly my first reaction was like

Anyhow, are Higher Everyday, Daily Manna, Sincere Milk etc. all devotionals written by Pastor Kumuyi? I get confused cause so many devotionals are in this section. You heavily promote this particular pastor. Just curious as to why?

Is this church non-denominational/pentacostal like Pastor Adeboye's? I'm curious to know more of Pastor Kumuyi's background/calling? All I know is that he's in the U.K. and I think he renounced some doctrines he either created or had been wrongly teaching or something. I saw the title of a thread here in the Religion section a few years back. I never read through it though.
It seems as if he does a lot of crusades.

I'm definitely gonna prayerfully do "outside" biblical research on him--the good, bad and the ugly.
What I find that's scripturally misinterpreted, I'll take to Christ in prayer.

I desire to be offended into Heaven....as all followers of Christ should be....if or when I'm in error. The Holy Spirit through the the scriptures convicts....
Cause after all, we don't know it "all". Correct?
