kusaga a mortuary attendant and Omobolanle Adesuyi, a nurse, dies of Lassa fever at Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The deadly virus must have been contracted from a Lebanese patient who also passed on.

The Christmas carol planned to hold on the Tuesday was cancelled in honour of the dead.

Kehinde Hunyinbo, the acting medical doctor of the said Federal Medical Centre, according to Premium Times said;

“It is true and we have commenced investigation into it, having contacted the Ministry of Health,” he said.

Babatunde Ipaye, the state commissioner for health appealed for calm in the state, opines that the government will always intervene on any public health relating issues.

“We are going to immediately create an isolation centre here at FMC to cater for unexpected cases and emergency on public health issues like Lassa fever to include others communicable diseases and have set officers out to confirm the root of the cases,” he said.
