Gernot Rohr’s men dropped one place in the latest Fifa ranking released by the world football governing body.

Nigeria’s senior national team has dropped a places to 51st in the latest Fifa world ranking released on Thursday.

The Super Eagles gathered a total of 616 points to fall to number eight in Africa behind Senegal, Cote d'Ivoire, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Congo DR and Burkina Faso.

Senegal are ranked first in Africa with 755 points while the Elephants of Cote d'Ivoire end 2016 as runners-up after gathering 746 points. Tunisia are third on the log with 738 points.

Argentina claim the team of the year award for 2016. La Albiceleste took the title from Belgium after overtaking them in April. In the year under review, the South Americans won ten of their 15 games, losing three and drawing twice.

The next Fifa/Coca-Cola World Ranking will be published on Thursday 12 January 2017.
