- Rotimi Amaechi says Buhari is eager to reflate Nigeria’s economy and fulfill the needs and aspirations of Nigerians

- Amaechi said the Ministry of Transportation will shift attention to the rehabilitation of the old railway lines of Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri after the completion of the Abuja-Kaduna railway project

- The former governor of River state says Buhari would ensure he achieves his promises

Rotimi Amaechi, the minister of transportation, has assured Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari is working hard to ensure he achieves his campaign promises.

According to him, one of the core mandates of the present administration was to fulfill the needs and aspirations of Nigerians.

Speaking in Abuja on Friday, December 23, through Yetunde Sonaike, the director of press and public relations department in the ministry of transportation, Amaechi said that President Buhari is eager to reflate the economy and deliver to the people the gains of his administration, NAN reports.

Amaechi went on to list his achievements saying that his ministry was able to complete the Abuja–Kaduna Railway modernisation project, and provided safety measures at the nation’s airports through rehabilitation of the existing infrastructure within the airports.

He said that there were also on-going rehabilitation of infrastructure at the seaports and the railway as well as instilling financial discipline in the ministry and its agencies among others.

On the focus of the government ahead of 2017, Amaechi said his ministry will shift attention to the rehabilitation of the old railway lines of Itakpe-Ajaokuta-Warri and also ensuring that the construction works on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Rail line was completed within the specified time.

According to him, the government is determined to ensure that works on Lagos-Kano Rail line commence in earnest to facilitate the movement of goods and passengers unhindered.

“The construction work on the Lagos-Ibadan segment of the Coastal Rail line will commence in January 2017,” Amaechi said.

Recall that the federal government finally completed Abuja-Kaduna railway project about four months ago.

It was commissioned by President Muhammadu Buhari, Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi and Kaduna state governor Nasir El-Rufai.

The project was started by the Goodluck Jonathan led government and completed by Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.

If after years of fall of the Berlin wall, and having led Nigeria, he still calls Germany, West Germany, he's not fit to led a local government.

Buhari celebrated his birthday few days ago, he's 73 and we were meant to understand that, he got his Waec certificate at 1953,so he finished ss3 at age 11 cheesy. The time we would come out of this mes, is only when these zombies all agree that they have been fooled, so we can stand up and take this country back from liars and never do wells. Even Antonio conte can out perform. The whole Nigerian government.

I am worried

Deficit spending is usually applied where there's deflation or very low inflationary pressure.

That is not the case here. Inflation is heading towards 20%.

What the country desperately needs is to cut wasteful spending, slash corporate taxes, unban goods and most importantly, allow the currency to float. These are some of the pressing reforms the country needs now.
