A political ally and a close friend to President Buhari, Isa Jafaru has returned N70m to the Federal Government after been accused of Money Laundering.

His arrest was made earlier this year as at Wednesday, January 6, 2016.

Jafaru, a senior member of the ruling party; All Progressives Congress (APC) was arrested earlier this year, for collecting $5 million from the former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki who also has being tried for $2.1 billion arms deal scam.

He was later released after he paid back N70 million out of N170 million and he vowed to balance up the remaining the rest.

An EFCC source said;

"I can confirm to you that Jafaru Isa has returned the balance of N70m to the Federal Government’s purse. This brings the total amount of money he has returned to N170m."

Reports said that at the time that Buhari was forced to cancel Isa’s ministerial nomination to be a minister after discovering that he had accepted the funds from Dasuki.

Isa was reportedly supposed to have been nominated as the nominee from Kano State but Buhari picked former Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, Abdulrahman Dambazzau instead.
