There is a topic on front page concerning flight taking off on 2017 and landing 2016. A lot of people have expressed surprise. If this topic here has made to front page the reason would have been explained.

Those Island on and after 180° International date Line I.e Fiji will be the first to Celebrate anything celebratable lol like Xmass, New Year, first to see the Sun rise etc while New Zealand is 2nd and the rest countries like Kirbati, Marshal Island, Federal State of Micronesia, New Papua, Korea, Far eastern part of Russia, Japan etc While the Last Places to celebrate include Niue Island of New Zealand, Tokelau same N.Z , next include Hawaii USA, Alaska USA.

Apparently, New Zealand is among the first and last country to celebrate New Year because of the International Date line that separate it islands.
