am a medical student, let's stop confusing people with the tag new organ, mesentry have always been a part of the intestine, and we know is continuous with no function to be specific. IS NOT A NEW ORGAN

It has always been there as part of the digestive organ but has just been discovered to be an organ on is own, hence they don't know its function yet.

But we know an organ to be a collection of tissues joint together in a single structural unit to perform a specified function...so how then could it be identified as an organ without an indentifying function, and how come about the name given already?

says who?......if u really knw cadaver or av seen one,,,u wud knw dat d first conspicuous structure u see wen u dissect d abdomen is d peritoneum or d mesentery.......so u shud retract ur statement!.....wat might av happened here in d journal might be getting additional info abt d mesentery.....but to d teachers and students of anatomy, d mesentery is as common as menstruation in normal female adult!....lolxzzz

good thought but dnt forget dat some organs in d body ar of no known function till date.,....eg Appendix in man.....and moreso, d functiins of d mesentery av been knwn since...,..functions of a particular strucrure isnt a yardstick to classify such structure as organ....,scientists study d histological architecrural and cellular morphology,....

Mesentery¿¿¿ the new organ already has a name

it has always been there....it's a double fold of peritoneum that attaches an intraperitoneal organ like the small intestine to the posterior abdominal wall

The mesentery has always been known for many years. It is a part of the peritoneum. It is safe to say that it has been promoted from tissue to organ. Mesentery must have attended new year crossover service. It has started receiving breakthrough already. Before most Niggas.

The mesentery has always been there although a tissue specific function wasn't assigned to it.

New evidence has shown that it is in fact a continous structure which may or may not qualify it as an organ.
But it definitely isn't new.

The name in itself is from the simplified latin word " Mesenterium" which is derived from Meso meaning Middle and enteron which losely translates into gut, Hence the english word "mesentery "meaning Meso( middle) enteron( intestine/gut) = Mid gut/ middle intestine.

This nomenclature is derived from the fact that the mesentery is formed by the fold of peritoneum that attaches the guts to the abdominal wall.

While the claim might be partly true, the title is misleading
You can take my word for it cos i have a BS in Anatomy

If it's a new organ as claimed, so who and when was it given the name Mesentery.

u are right on d aspect of limitation to research and crearivity, nevertheless, it will be of no use to bombard d little cerebrum of our high skul kids with d complexity and architectural design of organs to suit my definition....anyways....most of dz errors are corrected in 100level for doz doing bioloy related courses.....am a teacher of biology, and i av been PRIVILEGE to lecture med students in d labs....l alwax tel my high skul kids dat ther are many limitations to most of wat is written in dier biology texts...,although it is just for foundation sake.......definitions of Osmosis in dz sec skul bio text wacks ..and also dat of stages of photosynthesis....

welll...not dat d definitions in high skul text arr completed incorrect but it is just dat dey are garnished and sauced in advanced or univ level.....i pretty get ur point though
