Stop been crafty my friend and don't bring Jonathan into this. The Fed govt told us that the N5000 stipend had started in 9 pilot States of which Ekiti was among. Why did they have to specify on 9 states when only fewer states were practically ready in terms of finance. Don't you get it? Mentioning Ekiti as a pilot state when the reverse is the case was nothing but false claim and that was what elicited Fayose's disclaimer. No other words can be used to describe it other than LIE.

Do you have a link to the news story where the federal government said it has commenced payment to all 9 states?

What I recall reading is that 9 states, including Ekiti State form part of the pilot for the payment, out of which 3 states have received payment. Perhaps you and governor fayose misread or did not comprehend the news report.

Nine states are mapped out for coverage in this first batch and already, many of the beneficiaries were reported to have started receiving their first payments by Friday last week. The states were Borno, Kwara, Bauchi, Cross Rivers, Niger, Kogi, Oyo, Ogun and Ekiti. Of the states, Borno, Kwara and Bauchi have started receiving the money while the rest of the states in the first batch would commence the CCT payments soon.

Reserves are meant to argument the shortfall in any country's foreign earnings and infrastructure deficit if need be. During GEJ era, the reserve was mostly used to finance our fuel import deficit and growing infrastructural demand. Why hasn't Buhari's govt grown the reserve in its 18 months in power? Do you know that our reserve has been plummeting since APC came on board? Stop commenting on fields you know absolute nothing about. Besides, don't derail this thread.
you must be so thinking that you are talking to an idiot. Did you even knw that only 13% has ever being earmarked for infrastructural development during GEJ's era. And hey, only 20% has so ever being implemented.

That being said,

No country would ever grow it's reserve during recession. Saudi, south Africa, Venezuela, Angetina, Greece, Angola and many more countries that focuses more on crude oil to survive have not only seen a dwindling reserve but slashes in head cost.

Saudi reduced salaries by 20% and even adopted the Georgian calendarz dropping the Islamic calendar just to save cost.

Good countries like Canada, focuses more on exportation and thus, increase in reserve.

Britain on the other hand, does what they do best- increase tax from 40 to 50%, increased cal tax to 40% etc. Pounds is on the decline.

When a country is plunged into recession, she uses her reserve to balance. We don't have.

GEJ, earns more than half of what Nigeria earns in crude oil during his five years tenure, what did he do with it.

APC met with unpaid salaries, dwindling state allocations, no infrastructural development and low reserve of just $30billion, from $60billion.

Guy, bring in more arguments-

A cross section of Nigerian media reported that Ekiti was one of the pilot States for the scheme. How can a state whose indigenes were excluded in the first tranche of the payments be regarded as pilot state? In a nutshell, only 3 states qualify to be regarded as pilot states. Period. You and APC should not confuse us with semantics. Please.

In the first instance your argument is outside the line of thought on this thread. However, for the benefit of hindsight I would take time to reply some of the points raised in your submission;

One, a country's reserve can be built up during recession contrary to your notion. All we need to do is to increase spending on productive activities that are geared toward increase in export and spend less on importation. Loans given to governors in the form of bailouts should have been handed to local manufacturers thereby increasing their optimal productivity. If these are done, our GDP would not only improve our balance of trade would ease up while reserve would grow steadily.

Two, the persistent claim of Jonathan not having anything to show for the depletion of foreign reserve is mischievous and ridiculous. Aside the fact that part of the reserve was used to augment subsidy payment (which Buhari's adminstration is still doing), many infrastructures put in place by his administration (which Fashola and co are still continuing with) can be seen by all and sundry. No amount of propaganda can play down the fact that Jonathan's govt put up more infrastructure than any govt in the history of Nigeria as corroborated by Fashola.

As I said earlier, let this thread run its course without any foreign import. Please.
